About The Band

Muse was created in 1994 by musicians Matt Bellamy, on vocals, guitar and keyboard, Chris Wolstenholme, on bass guitar and vocals, and Dominic Howard, on drums. They are an English alternative/progressive rock and electronica band with a distinct melancholic sound. Muse released their first album, Showbiz, in 1999. This album sought to showcase Bellamy’s aggressive falsetto and featured lyrics about relationships and their struggle trying to establish themselves growing up. In 2001, they released their second album, Origin of Symmetry. This album tour solidified Muse’s reputation as energetic and exciting live performers as well as demonstrating their romantic classical influences. In 2003 they released Absolution, which further focused on classical influence, and even included orchestra on some tracks. This was their first album to become number one in the United Kingdom. 2006 brought a slight change in sound for the three-piece. They dropped the album Black Holes and Revelations, which had more of an electronic and pop feel and brought the band international success. The band released three concept albums, The Resistance in 2009, which was loosely based on the novel 1984 by George Orwell, The 2nd Law in 2012, which explored themes of civil uprising and government oppression, and Drones in 2015, which focused on a story about drone warfare. Drones returned Muse to a harder rock sound, opposed to their more electronica focused past few albums. Muse’s most recent release was their eighth album, Simulation Theory, released in 2018. This album is a mix of rock and electronic sounds, featuring synthesizers as well as heavy guitar and thunderous drums. Between all their amazing albums, muse has sold over 20 million copies worldwide.
