An All-American Jam Band

The jam band moe. got its start in Buffalo in 1989 when a group of friends formed together to play at a Halloween show. Although they had their first performance in 1989, it was not until early 1990 that the beginning stages of the band that we know today came to fruition. Originally the band performed under the name “Five Guys named Moe”, but in the fall of their inaugural year they decided to change their name to “Haggis”. This new name only lasted for about a week, then they simply changed the name to be what it is today; moe. After a restructuring of members, the band recorded their first album Fatboy. By 1994 the band members had decided to quit their day jobs and relocated to Albany, NY where they could openly pursue their careers. In 1996 the band signed a record deal with Sony Music and they released their third album No Doy. The band really hit stride in 1998 when they recorded their fourth album and began touring around the area playing over 100 shows a year. Moe. left Sony Music in 2000 when they revitalized their old self-made recording label Fatboy Records. Up until 2017 moe. had continued to release new music and tour throughout the country. Due to health reasons the band had to take a brief hiatus, returning to their regularly scheduled tours in early 2018. Throughout their careers moe. has performed in some legendary festivals including The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Bonnaroo, Woodstock and Lollapalooza.
