From Philadelphia to the world stage
The band got its start in 2001 with the release of I Never Said That I Was Brave, signing with a label shortly after. They released their debut album the next year, though it was 2004's Catch for Us the Foxes that got listeners' ears. For years they built a fanbase around frontman Aaron Weiss's screaming vocals and their post-hardcore sound, all weaved in with lyrics reflecting on spiritual themes and ancient poetry. In 2008 they decided to switch it up with their album It's All Crazy! It's All False! It's All a Dream! It's Alright, which featured the piano and harp, as well as arrangements by a classical composer. Their next album was a unique concept album driven by the narrative of a traveling circus and featuring vocals from Paramore's Hayley Williams.
