Early difficulties

When Maks was 13 he had a skiing accident that broke his leg and everyone feared he would never dance professionally. However, Maks was not easily deterred and was dancing again within six months. The family suffered significant financial and cultural strains when they moved to Brooklyn in 1994 but Maks and his father decided to open a dance school in New Jersey when Maks was just 16. Val followed his own passion for dance by becoming a student at the school just a few years later. Val went on to win the US National Latin Dance championship fourteen times.

Dancing with the Stars

Both Maks & Val have won Dancing with the Stars – Maks in 2014 with Olympic gold medalist Meryl Davis and Val in 2015 with actress Rumer Willis. In 2016, Maks & Val took the next step in their passion by choreographing their own spectacular show, Maks & Val: Our Way.
