The Making or Rock Legends

This world renown American rock band was formed in 1973 in San Francisco using members of two other bands; Santana and Frumious Bandersnatch. They were originally known as the Golden Gate Rhythm Section and were originally created to be a background band for up and coming artists in the bay area. Soon they realized that they were not meant to be a background band, so they abandoned that idea all together.

Now wanting to become a jazz fusion styled band they needed a new name for themselves. They set up a radio contest to allow the public to name them, but that quickly failed yielding them no results. It was a roadie named John Villanueva that suggested they be named Journey. The band made their debut on New Year’s Eve 1973 and released their debut album in 1975. After releasing three albums their original jazz fusion sound had not caught on, and Journey was forced to change their style and add a leading vocalist to stay with their label.

With the arrival of Steve Perry to the group, the band's fourth album, Infinity, landed on the charts and shot Journey into success. They continue to be platinum-selling artists, with smash hit singles like "Anyway You Want It," "Who's Crying Now," and "Faithfully." One of their most successful songs to date is “Don’t Stop Believin’”, having reached the highest selling track in iTunes history for songs that were not released in the twenty-first century.

From 1987-1995 the band took a hiatus in which members focused more on individual work. The band made their reunion public in 1996 when they released the single “When You Love a Woman”, which quickly became a hit single topping off the charts. With some of the original members gone and new ones filling their shoes, Journey is still releasing music and going on tours.

Las Vegas Residency

Coming hot off their 2018 tour with Def Leppard, Journey took a bit of a hiatus allowing them to each focus on their solo careers. In April of the following year they announced that they would be headlining a residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas beginning in October. The group performed along the strip for nine shows throughout the month of October. For fans that missed their massive 2018 tour, the residency provided them another chance to see the iconic rockers live.
