Ella Mai was born in London on November 3, 1994. When she was only twelve years old her family relocated to New York City, where she would remain until she graduated high school. Moving back to London after she finished her schooling, she auditioned for The X Factor as part of a trio named Arize. After the group did not make it past initial auditions they decided to ultimately break up. Focusing on her solo career, Ella uploaded an EP of all her original songs to her SoundCloud, naming the EP Trouble. Using her Instagram following to gain attention from record labels, Ella was able to secure a record deal with 10 Summers Records and Interscope Records. Throughout 2016 and into 2017 she would release a trilogy of EP’s, one of which included her soon to be hit single “Boo’d Up”. Already popular on social media, the catchy single launched the singer even more into the public eye. In 2017 Ella Mai became the opening act on Kehlani’s world tour, effectively bringing her sound to a larger audience. In early 2018 Ella released a supporting music video for the single, leading it to become a breakthrough hit on American charts. Peaking at the number five spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, it would go on to win Ella her first Grammy Award. In the fall of 2018 she released her debut album Ella Mai, featuring performances from Chris Brown and John Legend. The breakout female R&B star credits Destiny’s Child, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey and many others as her influences growing up. The Debut Tour

After the release of her debut album in the fall of 2018, Ella Mai announced that she would be headlining her first ever solo tour. The Debut Tour kicked off in the United Kingdom in January of 2018. After weaving her way throughout Europe in cities like London, Paris, and Berlin, Ella made her way to North America. After seeing great success in Detroit, Denver, Seattle, Portland, Chicago and Boston, Ella extended her tour throughout late spring of 2019. Not only did fans get the chance to see Ella Mai on her own tour throughout 2019, but she was also the opening act for the European leg of Ariana Grande’s Sweetener Tour.
