Under the leadership of Ray Meyer, who had a forty-plus year career with DePaul, the team won the NIT Championship and made it to the Final Four of the NCAA Tournament. They even earned the No. 1 seed for their region three years in a row. The women's Blue Demons basketball team has also made a splash in the Big East Conference. These exceptional student athletes have made consistent appearances in the NCAA Tournament since the program's inception in 1990. In 2006 they made it all the way to the Sweet Sixteen, a feat they've repeated several times since. They also secured the conference regular season championship title five years in a row, from 2013 to 2018. The DePaul women also excel in softball, where they have competed in both the Women's College World Series and the NCAA World Series several times.
