Dean Lewis was born on October 21, 1985 in Sydney, Australia. Growing up Dean got his musical inspiration from watching Oasis music videos, and he credits Noel Gallagher for teaching him how to write songs. In 2014 he signed his first record deal with Specific Music, although it was not until 2016 under Universal Music Australia that he would release his debut single. “Waves” was released in the fall of 2016, reaching only the 12th spot on Australian ARIA Charts. Although it didn’t see immense success in Australia, the song appeared in several American television shows such as Suits, Greys Anatomy and Riverdale. The following year Lewis released an extended play Same Kind of Different with singles “Need You Now”, “Lose My Mind”, and “Chemicals” all giving him ARIA Award nominations. In the summer of 2018 he released another single entitled “Be Alright”, his first single to reach the number one spot on Australian charts.
