Claire Cottrill was born on August 18, 1998 in Carlisle, Massachusetts. Known professionally as Clairo, she is an American singer-songwriter. She was made famous by her song “Pretty Girl” released in 2017. The song generated over 32 million views on YouTube.

Clairo started out by posting her music on Bandcamp. Bandcamp is an American online music company that allows artists and labels to upload music to Bandcamp's site and control how they sell their music. Later, Claire posted DJ mixes of rap music on SoundCoud. She also has been active on social media, posting songs and music videos across multiple platforms. On YouTube she reached around 700,000 subscribers in 2019. Clairo released a single called “Bags” on May 24, 2019. Following the release of her new single she announced her debut album Immunity which released on August 2, 2019.

Recent Performances

Pretty Girl

Clairo released the song in late 2017. The song went viral on YouTube and helped bring her into the spotlight. The song was inspired by a mix of indie rock and 80’s pop music, which she became a fan of through her mother. With the success of her song, she drew in the attention of record labels such as RCA, Columbia and Capitol. Clairo ended up signing with Fader Label. She was then introduced to Pat Corcoran who owns a talent agent and is also the manager of Chance the Rapper.
