History
The team was founded in 1967. Having dominated the ABA, by 1976 they were one of four teams that joined the NBA in the ABA-NBA merger. Their first few years in the NBA were a little rough, filled with many losses. But as time went on, the team drastically improved as a whole. The team is named after the world-famous Indy 500, which is held in Indiana.
