This place is so nice, beautiful views. House is well maintained

It had everything we needed. We forgot a bag of ice. Do bring your own ice in. The caretakers were kind & brought us some.😀

        Rural Riverside Retreat

Our group of five had a comfortable and pleasant stay here. There are ample towels, linens, kitchen supplies, seating and entertainment options, and a wonderful view from the back deck of the river. Plenty of wildlife to observe, the elevation helps limits insects, and the river access and wading/floating was great. Although the house has neighbors nearby we experienced no issues with noise, pets, or anything else. Likewise, we did not find the train right behind the house to be a problem; it provided an evening's dinnertime entertainment, and although we all agreed we heard it one night, it didn't disturb us overly. The house is a bit remote. That didn't put us off at all, and we were able to enjoy many day excursions without the location adding too much to our travel time. But I do advise arriving on the first day loaded with supplies a group will know they'll need, like groceries, extra toilet paper, etc. Follow the printed instructions and getting there isn't difficult. Although a note we laughed about: Ten-Mile Road is the only one along Tallmansville Road without a sign. So look for the turn on the right immediately after passing an exposed stone outcrop. We had a super stay. Thank you!

          Wonderful time

The house was just amazing. We came in February for a week and although it didn’t actually snow and rained some it was still a stunning vacation spot. Blackwater falls state park was only a short drive away and we got to experience snow and sledding there. The neighbors were wonderful and so sweet! The railroad track was super cool, the train came through the first day and then in the middle of the night, which made us nervous but then we never saw it again the rest of the week. We were actually a little bummed it didn’t come through again. It’s definitely not on a schedule. The house had everything we needed, for a family with kids. The directions given were a little confusing to read but once you look at the map and read them it’s actually quite simple. We did go down a road which the gps took us one time to try it out after a local told us our 4wheel drive vehicle could make it and although it was a fun drive, I will attest that following the directions given is the best way! If your gps wants you to turn onto a gravel road DONT do it! The city of Buckhannon was very cool, and we explored many places around the area, Audra state park, Philippi covered bridge, Ron Hinkle glass, wildlife walk through, riverwalk in town, just a few places we loved. We can see how much fun this place could be in the summer, but loved how beautiful everything was in winter. Us Floridians loved our winter getaway and we will for sure be back! This part of WV is just beautiful and we loved everything about the house!

Relaxing home along river and near hiking

My husband and I and our 3 teenagers had a lovely relaxing weekend! Even in the winter the river is breathtakingly beautiful, and we enjoyed hiking alongside it as well as up into the hills. The kitchen had everything we needed, and there were games and puzzles too. We're looking forward to coming back when it's warmer so we can have fun in the river. Prior to our trip, the owner was quick to respond to my questions, and there is a caretaker nearby should there be a need.

              Warm, Inviting River Retreat

Our girlfriend get away was wonderful here at the river cottage. Nine women from five states we're surrounded by God's beauty this past weekend! The house was well stocked and comfy! The caretakers were friendly and helpful. We will be staying again. Only downside was the roads getting into the site - mainly a one car road and definitely a little intimidating if you're not used to country roads in WV.
