Simple, sweet and ship-shape
Not your standard cookie-cutter fake Cape cottage, Selkie's Landing is a quirky two-story retreat within walking distance of a secluded (in October) bay beach that isn't even on some maps. Great quiet location convenient to Wellfleet Center (galleries, restaurants, marina) and Eastham (National Seashore Headquarters, great ocean beaches). I was vacationing alone, and the cottage was perfect for me. It would also have been comfortable for two but I think that three might be pushing it, unless the third person were a small child. (The upstairs bedroom has a double and a single bed.) I've rented many cottages in this area, and none have been as nicely equipped as this one, or as clean. The kitchen had a great variety of utensils, nice dinnerware, even a French press coffee maker. The living room was simply and tastefully furnished, with excellent lights for reading and a selection of good books. Bath was large and bright, with tons of storage. WiFi and TV worked well. Tom, the owner, is responsive and helpful with suggestions for enjoying the Cape. Note that there is no washing machine or dishwasher, and the roomy, pleasant bedroom is reached by a flight of narrow, steep, unlit stairs (not a problem if you leave a light on upstairs). In short, not fancy luxury accommodations, but a cozy, charming retreat in a great part of the Cape.
