"My husband and I stayed four nights at Joppa Flats VRBO in Newburyport. Our getaway happened to coincide with an extreme heatwave and we were relieved that the AC units in the cottage kept it all comfortably cool. The living area was big enough and comfortable for the two of us. The kitchen was large with seating for four, and although we didn't cook any dinners in it, I could see it would have been possible. My favorite part was the backyard--great size, a table with umbrella and chairs, a grill which we didn't use and a wood burning fire pit that we didn't use. It is one street away from the river and I walked easily to the rail trail towards downtown and if it weren't so hot I could have even more easily walked to the Audubon center at the beginning of Plum Island. Definitely take a drive to the wildlife sanctuary boardwalk on Plum Island--even the drive out to it was other worldly. Downtown Newbury port is just fun--to sit and people watch or stroll around and definitely to eat great seafood and a dessert of gelato. We left this morning after a casual and friendly breakfast at the Riverside Cafe on the opposite side of downtown with a list of things do do when we return--either for a day trip or another getaway. The only downside of the house was that the one bathroom was on the first floor and the stairs going up to the two spacious bedrooms are hard to manage, especially in the middle of the night. Other than that--two thumbs up!"
