Nice but the bed was horrific.
The hotel is beautiful when you walk in. Everything was very nice except the room. It badly needs to be upgraded with its bed and air conditioning. The beds springs stuck up and when rolling on the bed they would move. Bed cover was stained and old which made you feel like the rest of it was dirty. The a/c only went to 19 and on maximum you could barely feel the cooling effect. When asked to change the room they told us all there rooms had the same beds. Breakfast was good and the rooftop terrace was very nice. Staff were good and helpful. They let us store our bags until we had to leave as we had a late flight and let us hang out in the lobby which had great air conditioning. The hotel is centrally located on the grand canal with easy access to restaurants, shops, water taxis and water ferry. If it wasn’t for the bed and a/c I would give this hotel a better rating but for a weary traveler it was of utmost importance to have a comfortable bed and a/c as the temperature of the day is in the mid 80s.

Great Stay.
This is our second time at Hotel Carlton. It is a lovely hotel and only a short distance from the train station. The breakfast is great with a large variety of food. We get a balcony each time, and enjoy watching the sites on the Grand Canal. It's been a pleasure staying there.

Very nice hotel on the Grand Canal, and we thoroughly enjoyed the private taxi boat trip in from the airport. Roof bar great, and also tables in front of the hotel entrance to have a cocktail and watch the boats go by. Gondola stop right outside, with train station and vaporetto stops across the bridge made it easy to get around. Room nicely decorated but small as is typical in Italy. Only issue was that we only had one single wardrobe for 3 people for 4 nights, so it was quite cramped and we were living out of our cases. However we were out and about most of the time, so we had a great stay.

Well located on the Grand Canal, staff were pleasant and helpful, the activities I ordered were all provided as described. Breakfast was good as was the coffee. Only complaint was that the room was a little on the small side.
