About this property

Family Friendly With Spacious Rooms

Recently stained and painted inside and out, this house is well maintained and very comfortable. 'Lake Michigan Delight' was designed by architect Bob Lange to follow the topography of the land and face the panoramic view of Good Harbor Bay. Lake Michigan, North and South Manitou Islands, Pyramid Point and Whaleback can be seen from every room (except two bathrooms) in the house through its oversized sliding doors and picture windows that fill the lake side of this contemporary home. Enjoy morning coffee on the deck off the living room. Feel the beat of waves hitting the beach and listen to the the music of the birds overhead. Far out in the bay, you might catch a glimpse of a long Great Lakes freighter as it moves between North and South Manitou Islands. Later in the morning, follow the steps to the deck on the beach. Relax in a beach lounge, read a good book, take a refreshing dip in the cool waters of Lake Michigan, or stroll along the water's edge and search the sand for Michigan Bluestone or the better-known Petoskey stones. Afterwards, take a short trip to Leland's Fishtown to buy some whitefish, stop at a road side stand to pick up locally grown fruits and vegetables and choose a bottle of wine from one of the nearby wineries. After a delicious dinner created from local food cooked on the grill, enjoy a sunset from the dining room, the deck off the living room or down on the beach. A campfire and roasted marshmallows end a day that will delight everyone in your group. Keywords: Home, Cottage, Summer Home, Luxury Home

    Amazing View

We had a wonderful vacation! The view was incredible. The house was nice and spacious. We spent most of our time outside. The firepit by the water was great for watching sunsets at night. (We read the review about bringing water shoes and it was helpful. The beach is sandy after a short area with rocks.) Mary Lou was kind. We would love to return next August!

    5/5 Excellent

      Great views on Lake Michigan

We had a great view of Lake Michigan. With the water levels high the beachfront is a bit smaller than usual. The property had everything you needed to enjoy a home cooked meal or to sit out and watch the sunset. I would recommend upgrading the lounge chairs that are by the beach as they are a bit on the cheaper end. There was a hot tub, but had no idea if it was functioning as there was a tarp over it and covered in debris. I will say that the road noise is a loud since the house is close to the road and it is 55mph.

      4/5 Good

        Great location, spacious, little dated.

As described. Great location. Clean but dated decor. Beds were kind of hard. Beautiful deck area down by the lake with fire pit for awesome sunsets. The lounge chairs in the picture were old though, full of spider webs/bugs and one was broken. We had a great time cooking in the well equipped kitchens and enjoyed the sound of the surf as we slept.

Watch Beautiful Lake Michigan Sunsets from a lovely home in a great location

We loved the house, perfect for our extended family. Clean with decent furniture. We found the kitchen worked fine for a large group that cooks a lot and we managed well with one refrigerator. There is a small refrigerator in a lower level bedroom that we did not use. We brought coolers thinking we would need extra space for beverages but found the refrigerator was workable. Kitchen was well stocked with dishes and wine glasses. We sat on the upper deck most nights for dinner and one night we had eight people outside and eight people inside with chairs to spare. That night we parked one car in the garage and six cars in the driveway. It was tight but all cars fit. The house is close to the road but with the sound of the waves, we didn't seem to notice much traffic noise. Nice to have four bathrooms with abundant towels and hand soap. Every night we watched the sunset on the lower level deck where there are chaise lounge chairs, we brought down some stacking plastic chairs too. You will want to bring beach towels and firewood. I liked the layout with the master bedroom/bath on the entry level and the 3 other bedrooms on the lower level. Everyone enjoyed the sound of the waves with the windows open at night. The spare room with 2 Queen beds does not have any windows but we were happy to have the extra beds for our large family of adults. The only improvement I would suggest are new mattresses, they were very hard and the reason I took off one star. Lovely home and great location.

          4/5 Good

10 star view , great house layout, House in need of some work.

We have traveled to Michigan as a family a dozen times, this view was the best we have ever had. With that being said it was the most pricey house we have rented but not the most updated. The location and view are stunning, the deck at beach is where we spent majority of time. Thankfully the increase in water has still left this location with a beach. Lots of rocks bring water shoes, kids couldn’t swim without. Tubes work great also to float, bc the rocks go far out. As for the house the layout is great for large family, two decks and you cannot hear road in back most the time. The house needs a great deal of love though, especially the bathrooms. It was clean and ready for us, but we were not notified until arrival no hot tub (pretty disappointing) ,the hose for spraying feet with lots of little ones is inconvenient, and the shrubs need cut bad in front it is very unsafe pulling in and out driveway and you can’t see bc if overgrown things. The main bathroom downstairs smelled of urine so bad. It needs a new rug, all need toilet seats , fixtures, just simply new things. For this price the basics should be updated now and then and they clearly may have never been replaced in this house..ever. We were not told to deal with humidifiers and after not messing with them for a day a patch of mold the size of a baseball grew on carpet. We then started dumping them twice a day and all was fine. We did not see any history of mold so other then staying on top of those it was fine. We would stay there again, if they updated some. For a pricey trip you expect at the very least a hand towel and bedding not from the early 80s. It would be easy to do some updates. Again the view was nothing short of amazing. We had a nice time at the house, and enjoyed our trip. Cell reception is a no and WiFi is spotty at best so we used house phone which worked fine. Also Fishtown is fun for everyone and less then ten mins away.
