Charming, Close to walking Downtown Suttons Bay, Great Wine Country Stay

Located in Downtown Suttons Bay, the property made for easy access to our wine touring, walking & shopping downtown and easy access off the main road thru town. Not necessarily really easy to find, because it is behind another building, so your GPS will be a bit confused. But with the help of the VRBO pictures and seeing the Wine Country sign on the house, we knew we had the right place. Though glad we were getting there during daylight. Cute little cottage...yeah we all just wanted to live there away from it all. Did not find dirty dishes, or toothpaste tubes, and the furniture was fine for our weekend stay and the beds, too. Fortunately, we were there in the Fall, so the weather was cool and the furnace works great. Yes, they do not provide hand soap, but we did have some. Grocery shopping nearby for your needs. Really nice to walk out and to be able to stroll the many nice shops of Suttons Bay. We ALMOST went to a movie at night, but kinda tired after our day of "tasting" and nice big dinner. But, I have heard the movie theater is adorable with pop corn, canned soda, wood floors and it has been there forever, to the point it was once owned by my sister's husband's grandfather! Our only issue was internet. We could not sync with the wifi. We talked to the owner, and she believes the bandwidth or something has been turned down in the area, because several places are having issues. No biggy for us, with just using our phones or tablets to surf, but if you planned to get "work" done on your computer, you had better plan on using a hotspot or something. No scenic views to speak from the cottage. There is a deck with a grill and a table. It is the end of the season and I assume some of the disarray on the deck will be made nicer for all their warm weather guests. We would stay her again, alot for the location and also the charm.

No frills - surprise non-refundable damage deposit

This "cabin" behind the downtown businesses was in a good, if not scenic, location. No frills (missing a light bulb in one bedroom, no hand soap, no bath mat) but would have been okay for the price EXCEPT that right before I paid for the rental online, not included in the original price list, it required either a non-refundable damage deposit that increased the cost by a third or a refundable deposit that was as much as a week’s rental. The latter was ridiculous for a weekend stay and owner did not respond to my request for a lower refundable fee. I had already committed to this with another party, so I did the non-refundable fee. At that price, the "cabin" just wasn't worth it.

    5/5 Excellent

Wonderful place to stay right downtown!

We enjoyed our stay for the Harvest Stompede. The queen bed was very comfortable. It’s in an awesome location to the water, bars, restaurants, shopping, bike trail, wineries. My only complaint would be the bathroom. I could tell it was clean but the tub may just be old and so it looks dirty. Also there was some empty toothpaste tubes in cupboards above sink. Other thank that a fabulous place to stay!

    Great location!

Great location, right in the heart of downtown! There was a musty smell from the bathroom, and overall needs updating.

Great location but cabin leaves much to be desired.

Loved the location of this cabin. Very close to everything in Suttons Bay. However the cabin left much to be desired. When we arrived the cabin was near unbearable to be in due to the heat. Took us a full day to cool off the cabin using the one window air unit. And this was after we had to clean the unit due to massive build up in the filter. Bedrooms were fine but again very hot. Kitchen was fairly dirty and all the dishes needed to be washed before using. Not necessarily the owners fault but also something worth checking. Furniture is very dated and not very comfortable. Owner/attendant was responsive to messages however do not feel did much to alleviate issues we had. Overall not worth the price.
