    Fabulous family getaway

We had 12 people in our group and kids of all ages (Little’s-teenagers). This house was fabulous! There’s a fun pool to use right in the backyard. The walk to see the sunset is just a few minutes away. Keep in mind it gets dark at 6:00. To get to town you need to drive. It takes 15 minutes at least. There’s supermarkets on your way to get whatever you may need. We had the cleaning lady cook for us a couple times. It was delicious. Costa Rican people are super nice. I highly recommend using the people Cyn gives you for all excursions. They were all wonderful! Cyn was super helpful as well. It was a fantastic family getaway.

Casa Marbella is a beautiful and very comfortable home in a lovely tropical setting.

Our family of 12 thoroughly enjoyed our one week stay. The younger children loved the pool and really appreciated having the two plastic inflatable pool toys. The family room layout with two comfy sofas with the addition of a living room overstuffed chair was perfect for evening movie nights. Unlike many homes that we looked at for this vacation, it had seating for 12 both inside and out. The kitchen was well equipped. Cynthya, the home’s manager, was excellent! She stocked the home with food for our first dinner and breakfast, arranged to have the maids cook us dinner after our long drive from La Fortuna, and responded quickly to take care of a leaking tub. The staff is delightful. We rented the cart but used it only three times since most of our activities were not on the Hacienda Pinella property. The teens had fun exploring the area via the cart—definitely something new for them. Why four stars instead of five? The house configuration wasn’t ideal for our group. It would have been nice to have had another bathroom upstairs for the queen room where one adult slept. Our six grandchildren wanted to be together so that downstairs bedroom was VERY tight but they had fun! Thanks to Cynthya, there was a blowup bed that did the trick for the youngest two.

    Beautiful home in Hacienda Pinilla

Our family stayed in this beautiful home on our first visit to Costa Rica, just south of Tamarindo. The home was immaculate, clean and fully furnished. It is located a short golf cart ride away from the JW Marriott. We spent most of ours days at the Beach Club or having surfing lessons at Lola’s. (Easier to walk there from the Beach Club, about 15 minutes, than driving on the bumpy dirt roads.). We usually drove into Tamarindo (20 minutes) for dinner. Cynthia was so helpful informing us of things to do and places to go. What a great way to finish the year!

Def not the view we expected. Bldg crews directly behind and across the street, no privacy and loud!

The house is very nice. There is some general maintenance needed, such as there was an exterior door behind the kitchen with large exterior gaps all around it, leaving a pillage of ants and other flying insects throughout the house. Electricity is also questionable with several blackouts, I guess common with this area, but frightening for small children in a strange house. The lighting leaves much to be desired esp in the vanity areas and closets. No ice maker in Frig. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious. I really think had it not been for the constant noise of construction all around, this would have been much more relaxing. But as the owner didn't divulge this, we were stuck with unusable decks and views. The pool was nice and maintained well. The Beach Club was nice and fun for the kids. We didn't see any monkeys in the trees but plenty of iguanas. Plan on spending some time driving to town as the roads must be navigated around gigantic potholes, at least 30 minutes to Tamarindo. The owner also doesn't allow toilet paper discarded in toilets, which was gross, r/t sewage issues I guess. A very redeeming quality of this trip was the property manager, Cynthia. She was absolutely the best. Easy to understand and helped with the ant situation and sewage smell. She also contacted the building contractor behind our home to thwart their working on Saturday, leaving us at least TWO DAYS w/o noise. A very big thanks to her.....:) Navigating to this property was very time consuming and stressful. We were not given much direction with the maps we had. Also prepare to be stopped by Costa Rican Security with AK 47's as we were. Guess we looked like drug lords... All in all, I probably wont return to this country, but I appreciate the learning experience... I think.
