"Would recommend this to anyone! Friendly, helpful staff. Wonderful bed, so comfy. Lovely large room with tea & coffee making, ironing board, iron, and a jar of jelly beans! Very clean. Had a meal in the restaurant with friends. It was delicious. I had cottage pie, our friends had the pork stuffing pie, great desserts and was not overpriced either."

"If your discovering the south downs ie Arudel Castle etc this gem of a find is worth the stop over. Its a Fabulous building. Warm welcome from Sue and her team. Very nice interior. Loved the fish and chips Dinner. Bar and food very good value. Our room (3) was a real lovely surprise well furnished and huge. We stayed in Arundal the previous night which wasnt a patch on this lovely place. We visited Arundal Shoreham and the prettiest village in the downs Amberley."

"Two night stay, dined at a local pub in Amberley the first night and at the Hotel the second night. The service and food in the restaurant at breakfast and at dinner was excellent. The hotel staff I spoke to on the phone before arrival and all the staff came in contact with while there were polite, friendly and helpful. The room was kept clean and tidy with tea and coffee replenished each day for duration of stay.Option of free daily newspaper explained at check in. "

"Located about a mile from the station and close to the South Downs way in a very pretty village of thatched cottages. Check in is strictly not before 3pm. Loved our attic room. Gorgeous decor. Super comfy bed. Very welcome after hiking for a couple of days. Staff lovely. Evening meal excellent. Breakfast not included in our room rate so we skipped it and headed home early. Pub is upmarket with a 'Pig' hotel vibe. Would definitely come back for another visit as we're pretty local. "

"We decided not to stay. We found the property to be small, very dark and not that welcoming. Given it was dog friendly, the only outdoor space was a tiny paved area, not at all suitable. The cottage is right on the main road so very noisy. I don't know how the photos were taken but they don't reflect the very small and dark front room for instance. The info calls the small double room 'king size' but I don't think it is. Not for us. After a 1.5 hour drive, we turned around and went home. In credit to the owner, it was spotlessly clean. However, no welcome basket either - no loaf of bread, tea/coffee, milk in the fridge, etc - so the first thing you have to do on arrival would be go shopping! Such a shame."
