There is also an sleeping den with an additional queen sized sofa bed. There is a second full bath, fully equipped kitchen with a wood stove. The back yard has a hot tub, outdoor kitchen, tiki bar with cable TV and plenty of yard for entertaining friends and family. THE FUN STUFF Let's start with the most important part THE WINERIES. Note that a lot of the wineries will close around 5pm and may have a 4.30pm last tasting, unless there are special evening events taking place. If you only have a little time, do these: McCall's – award winning reds, their winery is a barn, super rustic, and I think some of the best wines out here! Bedell & Corey Creek – Bedell wine was served at the White House for the inauguration of Obama. They have two locations, Bedell is a bit more upscale and is the main event, but Corey Creek is also lovely and casual with newly renovated tap room. Be sure to try the Viognier and the Musee. Dogs permitted at both. Croteaux – an amazing all rosé winery, the owner is a graphic designer from the city who bought the property to start his design firm and ended up making wine with his wife. Very popular at the moment and an absolute favorite...I love this place!! If you have a bit more time add these: The Sherwood House – this is another award winning winery, great reds and whites set in a cute house with a great antique store connected. Paumanauk – beautiful views and great wines, all in the family winery right near The Sherwood House. Kontokosta – It is rather new and you can tell with the wines, they need a bit more time but are very drinkable. Great if you have a big group. Be sure to walk down the property to the water. Shinn Estate – great range of wines, casual winery Lieb Cellars – this is near Shinn and is a lot of fun, they usually have music at night in the evenings and tend to be open later than others. Locals evening Friday 4-7pm with 20% off happy hour & Noah’s food truck. Dogs permitted on the patio (not inside.) Lenz - nice setting, big outdoor seating area and music sometimes. Also a great Merlot. Close to Croteaux and Bedell if you want to bundle together. Also, when you get sick of the wine, you should check out the Greenport Harbour Brewery which is an amazing microbrewery in Greenport. After all of that wine and beer, you will need to EAT. Dinner Time & Happy Hour: American Beech - opened in August 2015 and proving to be a great year-round scene. Recommend for brunches, happy hour and dinner. Reservations can be made via OpenTable. Barba Bianca - relatively new, chef from Peasant opened this seasonal Italian restaurant. Food is fantastic! Lovely bar which you can eat at too, or have a spritzer while looking out into the boat yards. Right on the water, it's one of the best views in town IMHO. Little Creek Oyster Bar - casual oyster shack in the harbor where you can shuck your own oysters (most fun option and best value), washed down with a Bloody Mary or local wines. Expect to wait for a spot, but entertain yourself with cornhole while you wait! Lucharitos - fun Mexican food and margaritas down towards the pier in town. Later in the evening the tables move aside and the music gets loud - be warned! Brix + Rye - a Friday mainstay, Brix + Rye a cocktail/speakeasy bar on Main Street beneath the 1943 Pizza Bar and serving their menu, which is also great! First & South – They are all about farm to table and their chef did a brief stint at Noma. They are also a great place to grab a drink before or after dinner. Noah's – amazing seafood, fab ambience, great wines…this place is also fun to just eat at the bar. Can also book this on OpenTable. Alure – even better seafood, not great service but worth it for the fish. Amano – this is in Mattituck and people rave about it. Claudio’s - so fun!!! There is the old school fancy restaurant at the bottom of Main Street, great for lobster and steaks. Be sure to check out the prohibition era bar. For something considerably more casual, head out to Crabby Jerry’s or Claudio’s on the piers. Frozen daiquiris and lobster rolls or anything fried is what you’ll get here. Both good places to take in the sunset and grab a drink or two! The North Fork Table & Inn – this is known to be the best restaurant on both Forks. It’s pricey, fancy and is a tasting menu at dinner. But people say sitting at the bar is ala carte and a great way to try their amazing food. Brunch also a good option for that. For Lunch: North Fork Table & Inn Food Truck – great to pick up a sandwich or gourmet hotdog and take it to a winery like Corey Creek or Bedell. Fork & Anchor – cute general store on the way to Orient with amazing breakfast and lunch sandwiches. Love Lane Kitchen – this is in Mattituck as is fab, famous for their lobster rolls. Old Mill Inn – a cute little place on the Mattituck inlet, great for happy hour, a late lunch or sunset. 8 Hands Farm - food truck on the farm in Cutchogue with killer breakfast sandwiches until 11.30am and great lunch options thereafter. Good butcher/deli and gift shop here too. Now you are ready to sight see. Orient State Park – great place to hang out on a pretty beach, beautiful drive there. Recommend renting a canoe/SUP here for an hour or two. Inlet Pond County Park (65275 Route 48 in Greenport) – a fun walk around the pond onto a pretty beach, apparently great bird watching if you are into that sort of thing :) Shelter Island – take the ferry from Greenport and spend the day or have dinner over there (try Salt, Reddings for lunch, Sunset Beach for a cocktail if you are feeling adventurous and are missing NYC) For kids: Harbe’s family farm is a good spot to take the kids. Lots of farm animals to pet, hayrides, pony rides and more. Plus great produce and wine for the grown ups! North Shore Horse Rescue in Baiting Hollow is a good stop for animal lovers. Walk around and pet the horses that have been rescued. No charge but I'm sure they gladly welcome donations. Also check out this site http://www.greenportvillage.com which has the goings on in the area. Some wineries have fun events as well as the town does groovy things like chowder fest.
