Sevierville is located in east Tennessee, at the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains, and is easily accessed via exit 407 on Interstate 40. Its close proximity to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge make it convenient to a number of popular attractions. There are over 3,000 lodging facilities in the city; ranging from secluded cabins to luxury hotels. The area is home to a number of museums; Titanic Pigeon Forge is based on the Titanic ocean liner.
Visitors arriving by air will fly into Knoxville's McGhee Tyson Airport (TYS), which is less than an hour's drive away. If headed downtown, many antique and craft shops offer goods that display the history of the area, and those who enjoy outdoor activities can take advantage of the short drive to the Great Smokey Mountains National Park. Sevierville, which was founded in 1795, is the state's eighth oldest town and named after Tennessee's first governor, John Sevier. Its most famous native is Dolly Parton. Temperatures range from winter lows in the mid-20s to highs in the 80s to 90s during the summer.
