Beautiful Property!

This house is absolutely amazing! We spent all our time around the pool enjoying the open air and beautiful views. Thank you Mark.

5/5 Excellent

Perfect relaxing weekend!!!

The house was beautiful and spacious. Mark was easily accessible and responded promptly to any questions. I would advise anyone that wants a relaxing, quiet getaway to rent this home.

Unique property - in need of maintenance. Not a good value.

I have rented many homes through VRBO and Home Away and my experience is there are always positive attributes as well as negative issues with EVERY listing. You hope the listing descriptions and reviews are accurate and the property is well maintained in an effort to avoid any issues that would otherwise spoil your stay. That being said, this is a beautiful home and property; very unique in design and decor, great kitchen, plenty of space to gather as well as "hide-aways" for quiet moments with a book. The neighborhood is very nice, offering the walkers/runners in our group nice surroundings for their daily jog. Overall, the location suited our needs perfectly as we focused the majority of our excursions to either downtown Sarasota or Myakka River State Park. I would not recommend this location if your priority is the beach due to the traffic and difficulty parking. This home could use some regular maintenance to insure all of the amenities offered in the VRBO listing are available. We had issues with the refrigerator (resulting in food spoilage and an alarm that sounded throughout our 6 night stay), the spa heater (did not heat to normal spa temperature), the DVD player in the media room (no audio), and a tub/shower leak in one of the bathrooms. The owner was available and did respond to our requests and inquiries, but in the end, the issues were not corrected during our stay. Refrigeration in an alternate location on the property was offered but proved to be very inconvenient. When considering this listing, be aware that the upstairs bedrooms as well as the master bathroom have minimal or no window coverings. Photographs of these rooms in the VRBO listing are accurate representations but I don't think we realized we would be up with the sun or concerned about privacy. This property is not "kid-friendly" and I would not recommend it if you have small, mobile children (infant to 5 years old or non-swimmers). Again, a unique home, nice area, responsive owner, but given the cost of the rental and fees, too many issues to be able to recommend this property as a good value.

5/5 Excellent

The place was very quiet and secluded. We had a great relaxing weekend.

Our stay was short but very relaxing and peaceful. We had a couple of questions for Mark which he answered via text. I would recommend a longer stay next time. Thanks Mark for everything.

4/5 Good

Very Private

Mark was very quick when he was called or texted, but we had a few bugs to work out the first week. I did a lot of cleaning to get the house to my standards. The master closet was full of clothes and shoes. We were left some space for our stuff. We ended up hiring a pool service to care for the pool while we were there. The pool filters and heaters were on timer, so the pool was around 73 degrees upon our arrival! I’m from Cleveland and I wouldn’t swim in that temperature! My husband was able to figure out how to override the system to crank up the heat. The air conditioner was also on a timer, and we were asked to turn off the AC when gone from the house. I realize it cost to run the AC, but that should all be considered in the price. The master suite needs a new mattress, pillows and a few extra sets of sheets. I don’t expect the owner to provide me with toilet paper or paper towels, but there wasn’t one roll of paper towels when we arrived. Light bulbs needed to be replaced, and the kitchen could have been a little more stocked for cooking. Great stove, but the griddle and one burner didn’t work. The two burns that had an extra low setting clicked off when I attempted to use the lower setting. The trash cans had NO lids, and the raccoons played havoc with us. Mark did buy new cans with lids which I’m sure the raccoons laughed at! We just brought the cans into the laundry room. It saved us cleaning up trash everyday. I certainly left the house better than when we arrived, but I could have done more if there had been any type of cleaning supplies. Great central vacuum system, but it didn’t work. Enjoyed the house, privacy of the property and the neighborhood, but Mark needs to spend some serious time and some money to get things back to a Rock Stars standards!
