    About this property

Private Waterfront & Float 15 Acres Woodtrails 3kayaks Canoe A/C Firepit Garden

Lakefront vacation home with kitchen and balcony
Please contact owner through VRBO inquiry prior to booking to ensure cottage is suitable for your vacation. Imagine watching the reflection on a lake of an orange sun rise over a wooded hill; You breathe in the aroma of the towering pines that is quintessential Maine and decide to walk the trail along the 1000 feet of marshland adjacent to your own sandy entry waterfront and then explore the marked trails on 15 acres of woods: Welcome to Isla’s Will; A cottage at the end of a private child safe road, tucked in the woods just 20 feet from the water’s edge. Away from it all, but super close to area amenities: Fun Park, Movie Theatre, and most importantly, ice cream and gourmet deli salads and sandwiches. A lake house like no other, Isla’s Will sits at the beginning of a 15 acre National Wildlife Management area purchased by the owner to save it from further logging a decade ago. Explore the walking trails along a marsh, bog and eventually a stream, picking blueberries along the way if the season is right. You will re-enter the world relaxed and refreshed. Spend your days diving off your private swim float, then eat lunch at the picnic table or deck. Fish off the dock, explore the nearby winery or catch a movie if the weather is inclement. Top off the day with a campfire toasting s’mores on the fire pit or dine at a hip restaurant in Portland with every cuisine imaginable just 40 minutes away. Waterfront Amenities: There is 100 feet of direct lake front and an additional 1000 feet along the marsh. There are 3 steps with a railing to a sandy bottom waterfront. Ideal for the young or elderly. The water temperature in the top 18 inches is 70 degrees by the end of June. As part of a private association, Isla’s Will offers 2 other swimming venues in addition to your own private lake front. Loons, turtles and ducks will be your constant water companions. Windham's Fun Park with go carts, sky swing and mini golf, movie theater and mall are 15 minutes in one direction while Naples with a game arcade, old fashioned steamboat ride around Long Lake, miniature golf, water sports, and plane rides is 15 minutes in the other direction. Day trips under 2 hours: Portland is a great walking city from which you can tour the outer Maine islands via the mail boat or explore Peaks Island via golf cart. Freeport and North Conway for outlet shopping are an hour away. Family outings might include visits to the Maine Wildlife Park in Gray or the Sabbathday Shaker Village in New Gloucester which is the last active Shaker village in the US. Hike any variety of mountains including Shawnee Peak in Bridgton 45 minutes away; an artsy town where there is a wonderful park along a stream, an old time movie theatre, antique shops and art galleries to browse. Closer to the cottage, 5 minutes away is Hacker’s Hill with mesmerizing views of Sebago Lake in one direction and Thomas Pond in the other. About the lake: Thomas Pond covers 533 acres and has a maximum depth of 64 feet. It is about 1 mile long and a mile wide with nooks and crannies to explore. Very quiet and private with just one neighbor on one side with trees in between. The surface temperature of the water in the summer is 78 degrees. There are 14 different kinds of fish living in the pond including: Brook and Brown trout, white and yellow perch as well as large mouth bass. In 1989, the largest smallmouth bass ever caught in Maine came from Thomas Pond. In the morning you can see the fish from your bedroom window. Children will enjoy playing in our pesticide/herbicide-free yard. Lots of potted flowers and perennial beds with garden ornaments give the feel of a bed and breakfast. An herb garden is yours for culinary experimentation. Book lovers take notice. Maine 9% hospitality tax will be added to your invoice. Google 'Isla's Will' for a video on U tube. Peace and Beauty

A wonderful place to relax and enjoy the beauty of lake and forest. Mary was easy to work with and very caring.

        Beautiful Property

This is a homey, well maintained very clean cottage right on the lake. We enjoyed our stay here. The owner is very accommodating and a pleasure to work with. There is one quite large bedroom, one medium sized bedroom and a loft which offers no privacy but is suitable for children or family members. Highly recommended for a quiet, private getaway that is not far from Portland.

          Picture perfect setting

This home is everything it said it was and more. Plenty of room for our family of 8 to be enjoying the inside and activities of the outdoors. Home was perfectly attended to with all our needs met and absolutely spotless. The setting outdoors was quiet and exactly what we all were looking for. Kids took a late September swim and used the kayaks then walked the trails. The host, Mary, was easy to email before the trip with area details and suggested activities. She is very kind and attentive. Didn't need to contact during the stay-we had everything we needed. We absolutely suggest this home and would love to return. Thank you!

Serene location on a beautiful lake

If you are looking for rest and relaxation in a peaceful, picturesque setting - this is the place for you. The property is lovely and we were able to take advantage of nearly everything it offers - canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, sitting out by the fire pit and simply enjoying the view from the porch. The house is very convenient to services but the best part of the location is that it is so private and quiet. We plan to visit again next year.

              So much more

Isla’s Way was everything it was advertised to be and so much more! Our family had one of our best vacations ever here. The cottage was pristine when we arrived, so clean with some very high end updates and lots of special touches. The kitchen had everything you could need including lots of counter space. The cottage is spacious inside, comfortable furniture and has so much outdoor space on the 2 decks, 2 docks and beautiful yard with fire pit. The grounds are lovely and well taken care of with beautiful plants and flowers everywhere. It is so private and peaceful!! The lake was amazing the water was refreshing but not cold and crystal clear. The fishing was amazing!!! My son went out every morning at dawn and said he caught a fish about every 5-6 casts, even caught a very large one right off the dock. My daughter and I went kayaking every morning and with the large lake we had plenty of places to explore. At night we played games, did jigsaw puzzles, played cards and watched movies, all of these come with the cottage. And a few nights we had fire pits and roasted marshmallows. The owner was so easy to work with and really cares about this property! Lots to do in the area, hiking, day trips and shopping. We took the ferry from Portland to Peaks Island for a day trip and highly recommend that. You can rent golf carts there which is a great way to see the island. I highly recommend Isla’s Way and hope to return soon!!
