I was in Portland briefly for an interview, so I didn't have much time to explore the surrounding area. However, it's right in the heart of downtown Portland, and is close to public transit stops, restaurants, and a 24-hour Fitness (which you can use - the hotel will give you a pass!) The only feedback I have to offer is to the staff - when I was checking in, I don't think that the front desk worker mentioned to me that there was a $75/day charge for incidentals (always nice to be informed why you're being charged much more than what was originally quoted). Also, it would be really helpful to tell guests that when they use their key cards in the elevator (this is needed in order to get to your room), that they need to insert and remove the card QUICKLY, or else it doesn't work. By the time I landed at the airport, got my bags, took the train downtown, and then walked three blocks with both of my checked bags and backpack, it's been almost an hour and a half commute and I AM TIRED. I just want to go to my room and pass out. Please give me a heads up so I don't stand there like an idiot for 5 minutes trying to get to the floor until a hotel worker has to help me. Better yet, just hang a sign in the elevator. I saw several people struggle with this too, and when I told them it works better if you insert and remove the card quickly, the problem was corrected. But no one would ever know that unless they're told.
