About this property

Arthur House Portland

Built in 1888, this fully permitted and newly renovated house is located just outside downtown Portland, literally minutes from all the city has to offer. It is a block off the main thoroughfare to downtown and a short walk to public transit. The house has excellent access to the OHSU/VA/Dornbecker hospital complexes. We have taken pains to make sure your stay will be enjoyable and worry free. From the local beers and wines (for guests 21+ only please), Peet's coffee to get your morning started off right, and an assortment of snacks, we think we have everything you will need to have a great time. Inside you will find 4 nicely appointed bedrooms, all with high quality queen-sized beds. In the larger of the two upstairs rooms there is also a trundle bed with two twin-sized mattresses to accommodate older kids or smaller adults. In the other upstairs bedroom is a kid's play nook with stuffed toys, books, and a pair of beanbag chairs that unfold to create a quiet nap area for your younger kids. The house has two bathrooms, one upstairs and one on the main floor, both with a tub/shower, one with the original claw foot tub! The kitchen is fully appointed with full-size range, microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator, tea pot, and coffee maker. The daylight basement is a separate rental unit with its own private entrance. It is currently rented to a lovely and quiet medical student who acts as our on-site contact person/manager. The shared laundry area is in the basement, feel free to use it during the day. The stairs off the back deck leads down to the patio which is also shared with our renter. On warm evenings you can enjoy a locally brewed beer while grilling up steaks on the grill. Enjoy the seating area, pergola and fire pit. Portland, like many other cities, has an ongoing issue with a homeless population. Being so close to the downtown core, Arthur House may have a few in the neighborhood. We have never heard of any issue or even any interactions with these folks, but please be aware that they may be about. We hope you choose to stay in our beautiful home during your visit to Portland.. We love this city and are eager to share the city's fun, vibrancy and weirdness with you! Cheers!

Family wedding

Our stay, 5 adults here was perfect. The little extras were unexpected. What a treat to have cold drinks, coffee & tea all stocked four us. The owners were very thoughtful in providing the little extras which made the stay even nicer. A little hard to find, due to the location since I was unfamiliar with Portland. Would definitely return here.

Awesome space and location!

One of the best VRBO's we have stayed in. Super clean and spacious for 7 people! Spotless and well-stocked kitchen with everything you could need. The property was exactly as advertised possibly better. All the personal touches and thought-full details made it super comfortable, accommodating. and welcoming. Really appreciated the awesome craft beer wine and snacks, and coffee in the morning! The old school Nintendo was also a hit. Easy walking to the waterfront ( less than 10 mins ) walking to the downtown is doable and easy however a Uber ride was less than $8.00! Loved this house and all its charm thank you Daniel!

Great Portland Experience

We were a group of four couples visiting Portland, and all found the Arthur House to be just right for us. The whole house was warmly decorated, with plenty of storage for our belongings, and painstakingly clean. It was close enough to downtown for some of us to walk, and filled with thoughtful -and welcoming- touches, like travel toiletries, a bottle of wine, packages of nuts and other snacks, coffee, and a full cookie jar! Our downstairs neighbor was friendly and helpful with our questions about local places/events. Great stay; we'll be back!

A great home, in a good location for easy access to downtown Portland. Very clean and well kept

We were there over Christmas with lots of family and had a great time, the bedrooms are very comfortable with plenty of room, the house has everything you’d need. The kitchen is a little small for our large group but we managed just fine. There was some construction work going on in the basement while we were there but the host was very accommodating, keeping us well informed of specific work times, plus the offer to pause all work until we left! A great time had by all.

Thought of everything for a truly care free trip

Wow. My girlfriends and I had such an incredible time here for our weekend away. We were blown away at the attention to detail both in the way the home looked and in all the little things provided for the stay. Our hosts left ample information about the area with recommended places to eat and things to do. The kitchen was well stocked with basic seasonings and things one would need to whip up a breakfast or dinner in. We didn't have an opportunity to make much use of the basement game room, but I'm sure if we were coming her for something other than a conference we would have found our way down there for fun. We found the house to be central and within a few minutes drive to all the things we wanted to do in the downtown area of Portland. It truly was a fantastic stay and it was obvious the care that the hosts took to both renovate and accommodate their guests. I would definitely book again.
