    About this property

    Riffle House at Fern Hollow

Lakefront vacation home with kitchen and patio
Welcome to Riffle House at Fern Hollow! This gem is nestled at the foothills of the Olympic Mountains on beautiful Lake Sutherland. Centrally located between all of your Northwest activities giving you endless possibilities. Whether you are waking up and enjoying your morning coffee on the deck, or sitting around the fire pit at night stargazing and sharing laughs with friends and family, you are sure to get lost in time. Your retreat awaits you. The Space: At the Lake Front Cabin, there is nothing better than waking up to the spectacular view. Outside you get lake front access, ample parking, dock with boathouse, equipped barbecue, covered deck seating and a fire pit. Inside the cabin holds 8 guests comfortably, with full kitchen, dining room and living room. More about the location: Our location is only 15 minute drive to the heart of downtown Port Angeles, an hour and a half ferry ride to Victoria BC, Canada, a 45 minute drive to Hurricane Ridge, a 5 minute drive to Lake Crescent, 45 minute drive to the "Twilight" capital of Forks and 40 minutes from Sequim. Other things to note: There is no WiFi at the cabin. I have thought about putting it in, and I strongly feel that unplugging and being connected with friends and family is more important. Not having WiFi forces people to do just that. Although, there isn't WiFi, the service is great so you are still able to call, text and upload the breathtaking photos to your social media. The third bedroom, is a triple bunk bed. We call this the "kids room". There was no option for this therefore I had to modify the options.
Guest accommodations at this vacation home offer fireplaces and DVD players. Rooms open to patios. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and separate dining areas.
Bathrooms include shower/tub combinations and hair dryers. Televisions come with video-game consoles. Additionally, rooms include coffee/tea makers and irons/ironing boards.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

      Perfect lake house

We wished we could have been at the house more for our stay, it would have been the perfect place for a getaway with nothing to do!

        Amazing Property

My wife and I frequently rent cabins/houses on VactionRentals throughout the U.S. There are great cabins that I have given 5 stars to, and then there are exceptional houses that do the little things to make your stay that much better. This is an exceptional vacation house. First off, Lake Sutherland is gorgeous, and this house has probably the best position on the lake. The lake itself is very quite and peaceful and the views are incredible. Second, the house itself is very clean and cozy and just has a great feel to it. It has a great deck with a covered portion for the rainy days, which contains a gas grill. As to the little things that make this place truly exceptional, the place is fully stocked with every cooking/kitchen utensil that you could possibly need, quality (mostly) organic condiments, spices, coffee, tea, popcorn, etc., plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, doggy bags, shampoo, conditioner, etc. I have been to nice cabins have limited or none of these things and it makes a big difference during your stay. It also had kayaks and fishing poles, with tackle box, ready for use and has a lot of board games, DVDs, books, etc. They have literally thought of everything. I would definitely recommend the Riffle House and would love to stay here again.

        4/5 Good

          Wonderful, beautiful, relaxing!

We stayed the weekend to attend my son’s mountain bike race at Dry Hill. The place was described by the kids in tow as the “ultimate lake cabin.” The weather was pretty rainy when we were there so we didn’t get to take the kayaks out or enjoy the outdoor fire pit but we were able to get some hiking in and take in the amazing views. Please be aware that there is no WiFi or TV service at this home. There are lots of TVs and a good selection of movies and it’s so peaceful that it’s kind of nice to take a break from the screens. I only mention it because i would have left the Apple TV at home and brought more games instead if I had known.

          5/5 Excellent

            Cozy, quiet, beautiful, perfect!

Our family of four (two young daughters, ages 8 and 5) stayed at Chantelle’s place for Spring Break, using it as a home base to explore the Olympic National Park. What a wonderful place to come back to after a day of hiking! The lakeside location is beautiful and the home’s windows are thoughtfully designed to take in the scenery - the long dining table is a perfect place to have a meal or work a puzzle while enjoying the view. The kids loved the funky bunk beds. When it wasn’t raining, we took the kayaks out and the lake is a perfect size for leisurely exploring. S’mores at the outdoor fire pit was another highlight for the girls, as was the “polar plunge” into the lake (Lordy, it was cold!). Chantelle was incredibly responsive and accommodating. Would absolutely stay here again. Thank you, Chantelle!
