We used the house for our exploration of the southern coast of the island. The home is situated a short distance from the toll road that is the main artery for car travel. It is located in a community setting surrounded by similar homes and at a short distance by car to the city center and a wide variety of restaurants. There is a large mall with various shops, including a grocery store, less than five minutes away. Apart from an occasional car passing by with a radio blaring, the setting is quiet. The bedrooms are situated in the back of the house and are air conditioned. All of the things needed for a comfortable home experience are present. For those concerned about the impact of Hurricane Maria, the phones, Internet, and electrical power worked fine.
Luis, the owner, is an extremely gracious host and goes out of his way to ensure that you have everything you need for a relaxing stay. He resides on the second floor of the house but is not in the least intrusive. The beds were comfortable as were the couches and chairs. Cable TV is provided and if you are not fluent in Spanish you can find English stations with relative ease.
We were very pleased with our experience and found that Ponce has a lot to offer to tourists. Our plans did not include any cooking as we wanted to taste the different foods offered in local restaurants. While there are a number of American chain restaurants in the area, our recommendation for local cuisine goes to our favorite restaurants: de Jesus and La Nueva Casa del Chef. We give highest marks both to Luis and his home and also to the city of Ponce.
