My husband and I stayed at this lovely cottage in Placerville for a long weekend as we were running in the Gold Country Half-Marathon and it was only about a 20 minute drive to the run; this cottage is also close to downtown Placerville as well as various wineries in the area. This cottage has 2 queen bedrooms, 2 baths (1 full), and a kitchen with all necessary small appliances (there is also a washer/dryer available). There is even television cable service with amenities such as Netflix. The cottage was recently renovated and nicely furnished. There is also a patio table outside where one can sit and enjoy wine as weather permits. The cottage owners, McKenzie and Brandon, were very nice and accommodating. Given the cottage's presentation, I would not be surprised if the owners had once been in the hospitality industry.
For us, the only downside was the cottage was not walkable to the downtown area as there are no sidewalks and the roadway shoulder is only about 6 inches in areas of this small old mining town. Also, from where a guest would park his vehicle, he would need to take steps on cement blocks to get to/from the cottage itself, meaning I would not be comfortable bringing a disabled person with me to stay there. With that said, the steps were no problem for my husband and me.
All in all, we had a great time and enjoyed the cottage. If the owners will have us, we would love to stay there again.
