Fire alarm rang for hours without staff presence
I was one of the unfortunate people who was at this hotel the night that the fire alarm went off (Jan 7-8), and there were no staff on site to deal with the issue. It also took staff hours (yes, hours) to get on site. In the rush to get out of a potentially burning building, I forgot to bring my room key card with me, and I was locked out of my room from ~4am to just after 7am when a single staff member arrived. Not that it would have been much better waiting inside- Apparently they had also not left the proper codes for the fire department, so neither the firefighters nor the fire commissioner could not turn off the alarm. It literally rang very loudly for 3 and a half hours straight, and it still seemed to be beeping sporadically after that. Staff left both the guests and the firefighters waiting around for hours while the alarm blared. They allowed me a late check out, but I had to catch a train, so I got maybe 5 hrs of sleep in total. Many patrons complained, and staff promised that the general manager would follow up with us, but after giving the hotel a 10 day grace period I am posting this review. The hotel is in a good location, but a lack of overnight staff makes safety an issue, as illustrated by this debacle. My stay was not worth the money I paid.
