Stunning Spacious Villa
A truly wonderful stay in this very charming and very spacious villa in Praia d’el Rei. Every room (including the single) was well appointed and had its own bathroom. The swimming pool is delightful despite the weather being very poor so it didn’t heat up that well. There were 10 of us, all adults, and not once did we argue - except about who got to cook in the glorious kitchen each evening - as we all had access to our own space when needed. The patio outside the lounge and kitchen is big enough to have two large tables with plenty of chairs and a parasol so we could chase the sun. The charcoal BBQ was just big enough to cook food for us all, supplemented by using the large oven in the kitchen. There is a pool table and table tennis games room on the lower ground floor which was a great surprise. The lack of a tumble drier was a shame as the weather was not warm enough to dry washed clothes on the airer provided. Beach towels took ages to dry. Praia d’el Rei coast is beautiful but is ideal for surfing rather than bathing - although some brave swimmers chanced the waves. The area itself is incredibly short of shops so food shopping meant a 25 minute drive to the nearest Pingo Doce or a 15 minute drive to Serra d’el Rei to a mini mercado. One tiny and under stocked shop by the beach was not suitable for the number of villas that populate this area. This was a downside. There is the Golf Club House within an easy walk if you want to dine out but they were not serving the full a la Carte menu. They did a great BBQ on the Friday evening of our stay though. The Marriott Hotel a short drive away did a superb buffet evening meal for a reasonable price. And the view of the beach from their patio was beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this Villa and would not hesitate to book again. We would, though, go better prepared for provisions and washing clothes and hope for better weather.
