Third world accommodation at First World prices
There was absolutely nothing right with the Commodore Hotel. Our experience began with the hotel calling us to pressure us on our time of arrival because they told us that reception closed at 8 pm, even though it says 9pm on the expedia listing. When we arrived, there was a scene from Shameless going on in the car park, with a group of shirtless men hanging around a car playing dance music and some kids having a game of football while their mother's looked on, smoking cigs while sat on canvas chairs by the bins. The staff member gave us our key, pointed out our room and made a quick exit. The first thing we noticed about our room was the strong smell of damp. That was because it 'was' suffering from damp in several locations and in the ensuite wet room, stagnant water was lying in the shower because the floor was unlevel. In addition, the skirting boards were rotting due to rising damp in the walls. Moving onto facilities, there was no TV remote, our wardrobe was made up of a couple of pieces of wood stuck together in a corner with a rail and a couple of hangers, the toilet seat was broken, the only other seat in the room was dining chair that looked like someone recovered it from a tip, the light fitting above the bed was hanging off and the mattress was thin and mainly spring rather than a kind of padding. We had the most uncomfortable nights sleep ever and left very early in the morning to escape the place. The charge for the room ....£77.00! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!
