Lots to commend and recommend, so lets get started. This small realty company, Angelfish is extraordinarily hands on, and prompt. The home itself is huge, but plays even bigger. There are simply too many ways you can escape life's worries here, that it is hard to choose which room, or veranda, or window, or view to contemplate. Several families could easily co-exist here for a week or longer, and even if they didn't like one another, they'd rate their stay highly! so much the better if they do. The house is well appointed with kitchenry items for you cooks. The designer of the physical home uses the fact that this property sits almost "pointlike" on the land, and therefore windows, and walls were used beautifully to capture the sun, and the evening light. The cook can commune with family, and watch the sunrise, and believe it or not part of a sunset, too. The designer of the interior space is just as clever. The artwork is special, the pillows plentiful and well used, and there are books galore. Even the deck furniture is hearty and hardy, and quilts at the door for cool mornings.
As for the environs, Emerald Isle and neighboring intercoastal towns are aplenty. We liked Beaufort, NC, but absolutely loved Swansboro (15 minutes away). That little town is as untouched by time as Savannah. Patrons were so friendly in the stores, and foodies will go for several places there, the Pub, and Icehouse, and Boro for sandwiches. Take time to walk its short streets and imagine the mid-nineteenth c. and very early twentieth c. homes, that are usually still lived in and loved. The Brick Store has continuously been used commercially since it was built in 1839
We came down to enjoy a bike race and the Croatan Forest with dozens of miles of gravel road. The Croatan Buck Fifty inaugural was loads of fun, and casual or serious cyclists would enjoy the fact that you can bike forever on this island's paths, or head over to the Croatan and ride for hours!
For you less adventurous, you can walk down the step from the kitchen and have your own personal pool, and hot tub, or walk 50 yards on the board walk across some of the most intact dunes ever, and be on a wide beach in about three minutes. Really great beach for tiny kids, the sand goes forever. So, all in all, a gem on the Emerald Isle.
