    Pretty good, but...

There's a lot to like about Pacific Grove Inn. It's a pair of sweet old Victorian homes turned into an inn. The walks to Lighthouse Ave (restaurants, shops, etc) and to Lover's Point are short and delightful. The room and porch were charming and clean. But it felt bizarre that there was nobody to check me in or out, there was no table for sitting at in my room, the bathroom door was hinged in an awkward way, and there was only one narrow window looking out so it felt cave-like. Also, it's at a pretty busy intersection--which, for Pacific Grove, isn't saying much. Then again, Pacific Grove itself is so delightful that I loved being there.

We absolutely fell in Love with the inn. The 19th century style and charm was refreshing compared to the normal hotel suites we have stayed in.The location was centrally located and was only a couple minutes from whatever we wanted to go too. Will definitely be back again.

This inn is a very quaint and historic place nestled in a beautiful burg not far from Cannery Row in Monterey. While the location is convenient, you should know it's on the corner of a corner that seems to get a fair amount of traffic (at least on the Saturday night we stayed). And the walls are extremely thin, so you are likely to hear cars driving by all night, if you are light sleeper (bring ear plugs, in other words). Because the walls or thin, you are likely to hear sounds from the other rooms near you. Also, there was no one there to check us in when we arrived (less than an hour after the 4 p.m. checkin time). And we had no advance instructions on how to get in or how to find our room (there was a number we had to call, and whoever answered the phone guided us through the process on the phone). On the plus side, the rooms are spacious and quite nice with an early 20th century feel to them (which might not be to everyone's liking if they like a more modern look, obviously) I liked the change of pace myself. And, as I said, the location is ideal, just a quarter mile walk down to some wonderful restaurants in Pacific Grove or if you want to go down to Cannery Row for more options and lively night life, it's a five-minute drive
