Nestled in a beautiful neighborhood
We were here during a very bad fire in Northern CA and the smoke in Monterey was unhealthy which caused the Monterey Half Marathon to be cancelled (our main reason for visiting this area). We felt safe being next to the local fire station! We had no problems with free access to the 17 Mile Drive where the home is located and we had a wonderful drive taking in the beautiful scenery. There are lots of picnic spots, but we just returned to the beautiful kitchen to prepare our meals. The home is spotless and the modernization of this mid-century home has been well done. Our only issue, which could not have been anticipated, was that the heater went out while we were there and it was very chilly. Helen was very responsive and offered to deliver space heaters until the problem could be resolved. I'm sure this will have attention as every other aspect of the home shows great maintenance. The back yard could have a bit more attention. We ate on the deck and enjoyed the succulents in planters, but the landscaping has been left quite natural and might benefit from some pruning, etc. but I'm sure any landscaping requires deer-resistant plants since the deer are roaming freely in this area. Be careful when driving! They are adorable but don't seem afraid of cars. The bedding was wonderful and the kitchen well designed. Plenty of hot water for showers in the updated bathrooms. Loved our brief stay here. There were only 3 of us, but it could accommodate more people. It also looked safe if you have small kids or elderly with you.
