    About this property

Cozy, 2BR Lake-side Retreat and Outdoor Oasis

Family-friendly vacation home in Groton with outdoor tennis court
Our cozy, family friendly and completely remodeled lake house enjoys modern conveniences with private lake access and quick access to Boston (only 45 mins!). The vacation getaway is located on Lost Lake in beautiful Groton, MA bordering serene conservation land on 2 sides and facing a small private beach with dock. The location offers a balance of natural beauty with a convenience to amenities allowing you to get away from the fast paced city life but return at your leisure! Inside: Our home was completely remodeled in 2017 and is essentially a new house with new kitchen appliances, revamped electrical/plumbing system, new flooring throughout and updated bathroom. The house was designed to maximize a smaller footprint with an open concept, cathedral ceiling, smaller bedrooms and easy access to the outdoors. Wall to wall windows provide relaxing lake views and the kitchen faces conservation land with a pretty cove teeming with wildlife. While smaller, the house encourages family and friend interaction as well as spending time enjoying the outdoors. This is not the place to come if everyone wants to go in a separate room to watch TV or play on an iPad! The home is equipped with high speed WiFi and a 55” flat screen TV to enjoy movies, sports or that favorite TV show. The master bedroom has new French doors opening up to the living room offering lake views (the perfect way to wake up). Play & relax in the lake, then cook in a modern kitchen or grill on the deck. Outside: There is a nice beach at the water's edge where you can listen to the waves beating against the sand and rocks and watch ducks, geese and swans (last year we had a family frequent the dock). There are two fire pits: one on the private sandy beach and the other closer to the home and woods. Up above at the house, is a new deck overlooking the lake where you can watch boats on weekends in the summer and ice fishing in the winter. It is generally peaceful but we do have respectful neighbors on both sides as you face the lake (one of which is rarely there but for an occasional weekend drop by in the summer and almost never spends the nights). While the natural beauty of the location is undeniable, please understand that this is not a wilderness retreat - there are often boats on the lake and neighbors enjoying the lake - especially on summer weekends. The house is designed for outdoor living so while it can accommodate 6 guests; it is more comfortably suited to a family of 4-5. It is a two bedroom with a brand new comfortable pull out couch which sleeps two. Welcoming day visitors is fine but we require that parties of ten or more (total) be requested / approved in advance. Late Checkout Option - we understand weekends are short and many times guests want to stay all day Sunday but not overnight. If our booking schedule permits, we offer a late checkout option for those who would like to extend their checkout time from 11 am to 7 pm on the last day of their stay. The rate is 50% of the full-day rate for that particular day. While we love our 4-legged family members, unfortunately due to ensuring our home is suitable for all with allergies, we don't allow any pets. There is no smoking inside the home under any circumstances. Guests must recognize that the water is a hazard. Guests must assume all responsibility for their personal safety when swimming and boating. State law requires the use of personal flotation devices. We require all guests to sign a Liability Waiver before arriving.
Air-conditioned accommodations at this vacation home offer DVD players and video-game consoles. Rooms open to patios. Accommodations offer separate living rooms. Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and separate dining areas. Additionally, rooms include coffee/tea makers and hair dryers.
This vacation home features a garden.
This vacation home is a smoke-free property.
Recreational amenities at the vacation home include an outdoor tennis court.

      Tranquil, child-friendly escape

As a family of three, including a toddler, we had a wonderful week at this home. A crib and gate on the deck made the house especially child-friendly. The homeowners were kind and responsive when we had questions, and the home itself is small but really comfortable, clearly with a recent remodel. We loved the deck and the view of the lake from the living area & main bedroom. The small private beach is sandy with clear water. Our little one loved all the little fishies swimming around her legs and watching people speed by on boats. We’d be happy to stay again!

A very relaxing and beautifully kept home.

We were pleasantly surprised how close in proximity to all of the historical sites and areas of interest we wanted to see to this beautifully kept little home! We broke up our days with rest in between seeing the historic sites as well as hiking. While we rested at the house we really appreciated how accessible the pond was from the house. We enjoyed paddling and exploring in the available canoe. We also felt peace of mind knowing that Brian was just a phone call away when needed. Everything is very well kept, clean, organized and tastefully decorated. We would definitely stay here again! Thank you😊

Great stay - clean and a great stay overall

We arrived and was pleasantly surprised on the cleanliness of the place. Great little place with a great view of the lake from the deck. The owners were great to work with and responded in a timely manner to any questions we had. They were very accommodating by letting us use a pack in play as we had 2 small children. Very nice of them and was above and beyond what we expected. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Nicely updated cottage on a beautiful lake.

My wife and I were traveling with our 3 kids and wanted to give them a private lakeside experience and this place did not disappoint. You are on a shared lot with 2 other cottages but we definitely felt like we had enough privacy. Although it is small at only 650sf, it was plenty of room for our family as the couch pulled out to sleep two of the three kids. Our teen had the second bedroom to himself and my wife and I slept in the master, which again was small but the bed was super comfortable. They did a really nice job upgrading the cottage and has a "wow" factor when you walk into the front door. The views are gorgeous and there are plenty of amenities to make your stay very comfortable. We made use of the canoe one day to explore the lake (which is also gorgeous) and fished off the dock where we could easily catch bluegill using worms and a bobber. The kids had a blast. There is a Shaw's right down the street for groceries. If you want to take day trips, It is about a 45 min drive to Boston, 20-30 mins to southern NH (depending on where you are going) and about 1.5 hours to the entrance of the Cape down 495. Brian and Kathleen were great hosts. Very friendly and plenty of communication to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. They even left us supplies to make smores at the fire pit, which we thought was very sweet. All in all, great place, great location, great hosts, and would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a lakeside experience that is centrally located.

              Lovely get-away

For a week we nestled into this lovely lake-side hill-side cottage. The space worked very well for us since we could do much of our living out doors. All our meals happened on the deck which with a gate was perfect so our 1 year old grandson could be free to play while we ate. The private beach provided lots of cool waterside shade and a great place to do sand play. We all agreed this would be a place we would happily return to. Thanks to Brian and Kathleen for being such gracious hosts.
