This was our first time in Oahu and had a lot of options as to where we should stay. We chose to stay on the North Shore as we read that it was not as "touristy" as Honolulu and Waikiki. The neighbourhood itself was very quiet and relaxing filled with permanent residents, University students and travellers alike. The private beach was located very close to the house and was a nice, quick walk. The other beaches were a quick drive away. However, the beach that was closest to us was a little rocky for our liking, but was nice sit and listen to the ocean. The Polynesian Centre was a little pricey so we didn't go, but the market next to it was wonderful. The Woodland just down the road was very convenient as well.
As for the house itself, It was clean. the windows were a little hard to open to get some fresh air in the evenings. Having access to laundry came in handy, the kitchen was spacious and well supplied with utensils, pots and pans for home cooked meals. The garage was filled with beach supplies such as beach chairs, toys, umbrella, etc which was convenient.
I do however, wish that there was central air as the air conditioners in each room got overheated and made a lot of noise, so we used them sparingly. Having the garage as the only access point where we can lock the doors was a little bit of a nuisance . Also, if you're renting a vehicle to stay here, make sure to rent a 4 X 4 or a vehicle that sits a little higher as the driveway is very steep and we could not get our van up the driveway at all. There is no parking anywhere else on the street.
Overall, the house was nice and we would stay here again. The property manager was accommodating and responded quickly to questions we had.
