We came for the (canceled) Spartan race & stayed 6 nights in August. Property is clean/as pictured, but smaller than I thought. Beds were too firm for us, personally. There was no A/C, despite her response to a reviewer that it would be installed by end of August. We checked out 8/29. The washer & dryer are new and work well, which was a plus. Because of no A/C, we had fans on the whole time but it was still so humid. We had to keep all windows open as well despite the rain (luckily there are overhangs so water didn’t get in). TV works well. Unit does not have its own WiFi router. It works well when it works. We enjoyed being able to walk across the street to the beach. The road isn't busy or noisy. There was enough in the kitchen for us to cook, though basic. You’ll need to buy your own seasonings.
We happened to be checking in the day Hurricane Lane was supposed to start bringing heavy wind/rain. We emailed Marci to see if (because of storm) we could check-in early. No response. The next morning, we found a sweet family of 7 outside who hadn't been given correct instructions to get in. We tried our code, looked under doormats, looked at their email, and tried calling/texting Marci. No answer. We invited them to our unit because we didn’t think it right to leave a family in a van while a hurricane was starting to push in heavy winds/rain. The WiFi was down for a few days (texted & no response for over a day). We got back one night and the light was on in the kitchen causing us to believe she stopped by with no heads up. I get it’s her rental, but it would’ve been nice to know. She popped by the next morning (this time with a heads up) to fix the WiFi. Turns out someone unplugged it downstairs.
We paid the extra nightly fee for 2 extra guests, but their flight got canceled due to the hurricane. Since we were now going to also pay their cost, we texted her twice asking if we could have the extra guest fee credited. No response. I asked her face-to-face when she stopped by for the WiFi and she said “No, it’s clearly stated on the website.” I replied I hadn’t had WiFi to look. While I understand no refund rules, I’d also think given that we had no WiFi for 2-3 days & played host to her other guests for a bit there’d maybe be some leeway. Nope. When it gets A/C, the property will be fine. We personally probably wouldn’t stay here again because we feel responsiveness could be better.
