Key West enjoys warm weather throughout the year with an average high of 75 degrees during January. August is the warmest month when temperatures in the high 80s. During the Civil War, Key West's Fort Zachary Taylor was a key outpost for the Confederate States. Today the site contains a large selection of Civil War era cannons.
