Checked into the hotel and was getting settled for the night. Some unknown person opened our door and took a step in our room realizing it was not his room. We told the front desk staff and she was unconcerned, unbothered and basically told us we made it up. We left after that but was not given our refund (checked in at 3:15 and left at 8:56 due to incident) and was told that “people do this all the time” insinuating we made up a story to get our money back. Called the GM
The next morning after having to drive back home that night and was flat out told “ma’am no one opened your door or forced entry into your room”. I was livid and floored that she dryly told me that I was lying and then told me she would have to check the locks on the door and it would take mid week to let me know something. She also added in that we booked our hotel through Expedia insinuating that it would make a difference in us getting our money back or not. I told her I was calling corporate and she changed her tone and and told me there was no need to contact them as she was typing up something to send to them because the consider guest safety important. She never apologized to me over the phone but sent me an email hours later apologizing and saying that they were looking into the matter of someone “trying to get into the room” when someone indeed did open our door and take a step in. I emailed her back a long letter as week as contacted Expedia and Red Roof Guest Services.
