The house itself is beautiful, well decorated, and well-maintained.
There is plenty of room for a large crowd, along with games and movies. The firepit was a great treat in the evenings. The owner was very responsive when we had a question, and left a little booklet with a couple of local menus.
It was quite dirty, mostly in ways which would have been visible/avoidable. The sink was full of dirt and debris. It seemed like mop water had been in there, but the sink had never been rinsed out after the plug was pulled. There were also multiple dirty dishes in the cabinets covered in food and grease. While I don't blame the owner for the dishes since they can't reasonably be expected to inspect all of the dishes after each guest, it was quite gross and worth mentioning. There are also placemats on the kitchen table, several of which had large patches of very visible scrambled eggs stuck to them and had still been just stacked on the others in the middle of the table.
The mattresses seem new, but they are also painfully firm. I prefer firm mattresses, but these were beyond what either of us could sleep on. I ended up sleeping on the couch after the second night, and we essentially lived on painkillers while there. We left a night early simply because we couldn't face the pain of trying to sleep in those beds again.
The house is on the main road, essentially almost a rural highway, and there is no fenced-in area for pets. The post mentions acreage, & other reviewers mentioned trails, which was the primary reason we chose this location. None of that is really visible/accessible at this point (2019). There are houses all around, several with occupants who are older and spend their days watching each other sit outside- there is no privacy. If there were trails, they are overgrown to inaccessibility, I am assuming due to the hurricane last year. Not even my dogs could get far into the trees/brush, and since we were on such a busy road, that meant they were fairly confined.
Quick warning: Google does not currently (Summer 2019) know how to get to the house- it will try to take you down into a neighborhood and on roads that do not exist. You don't need to go into the neighborhood- it is on the main street.
