      Relaxing weekend

Our family of 4 had a relaxing weekend at this little lake house. Kids slept downstairs in bunk beds and we had a nice king bed upstairs. It is a bit of a hill down to the lake, but no big deal if you are able to walk stairs easily. We rented a boat from one of the marinas, which made for a nice day on this beautiful lake. The dock was big and has a nice lake view.

Cozy Cabin With A Great View

Cozy cabin with a great view from the dock, and that is where we spent most of our time. We brought jet skis, and rented a boat from Boundary Waters and stayed on the lake as much as possible. So nice to have a quiet cove for floating around and kayaking too. Great exercise going down to the lake and back to the cabin. Bring lanterns or strong flashlights because it is very dark going down to the dock or fire pit at night. We had a wonderful time.

        5/5 Excellent

Nice, clean cabin on the lake,

We enjoyed our week at Lake Chatuge, and the cabin was well equipped and comfortable. More than a few steps down to the dock, but it is in the mountains, so not unexpected. Nicely situated for privacy.

Average Cabin - Great View From the Dock, Beautiful Lake - Cabin Needs Improvement

Our family of 5 (2 adults, 3 teens) from the midwest stayed for a week at the end of July of 2018. Overall, there were a number of positives; however, this is not a 5 star property, contrary to what you read on vrbo or elsewhere. The lake is beautiful, and the cabin is located on a quiet, secluded cove. Water temps were warm (unless raining, which it did for 3 straight days) and swimming off the dock was quite pleasant. Having explored most of Lake Chatuge on our kayaks and rental boat, we agree with the owners that the view from the dock is one of the best on the lake. Be careful, though, the lake water can discolor your clothing permanently (two of my t-shirts were ruined). We had hoped to use the washer on site to wash all our clothes; however, there are multiple warnings posted in the laundry room about the water - these issues are not forthcoming on the vrbo post. And the water inside the cabin turned the white bath towels pink. We did meet the owners due to a plumbing issue. They were nice and definitely proud of their property; however, they were unable to rectify a pre-existing issue in the downstairs bathroom that rendered the second toilet unusable for the week. The kitchen is definitely older than it appears in the photographs. The appliances are old, the stove burners unbalanced, and the pots/pans quite worn. There is a small dishwasher. It was clear to us upon arrival that not all the plates in the cabinets were actually clean - this could have been the fault of the prior guests. The kitchen table seats two - the outdoor patio table can seat 6. There is a mini-fridge in the kitchen but the full size fridge is actually in the basement, which is inconvenient. The kitchen was also void of matches and a meat thermometer, which made grilling a challenge initially. The grill is "infrared" and the display symbols have worn off the face in places. The basement contains a third bedroom, which our boys slept in. It had an unpleasant musty odor that transferred to the clothes they put in the drawers, which was also disappointing. The air hockey paddles simply don't work. In terms of cleanliness, the cabin was just average. Also, multiple lightbulbs were out upon our arrival, the propane tank for the grill expired after 1 use, the screen had a hole, and a couple of the doors didn't fully close or seal (deck and basement). Overall, the property was just satisfactory. The cabin needs work to justify the price.

            4/5 Good

              Great time on the lake!

We had a great time on the lake. Great dock, great location, the kids loved it. The house is much smaller and older than we were expecting, but it was still enjoyable. The pictures gave us the impression it was brighter and roomier than it was, but we spent most of our time outside anyway. It is very much the "cabin in the woods" experience. The owners seemed very nice.
