Sights and Sounds of Blue
Oh Henrietta, what a lovely space you have created for escape. Everything we needed and then some. In July we visited Ohaua for our nieces wedding and had little time to schlep through the traffic snarls in Waikiki,, so we decided to come back by ourselves for a “do-over”different experience. Easy ride from airport, quick stop at Shrimp Shack for lunch - a leisurely drive to explore “this side of island” before checking into cottage. Parking - right there at bottom of stairs -easy. Entry - instructions - easy. Open windows and hear the ocean - easy. Look around unit and discover - no need to shop for extras - there’s a closet full of everything one would need for a day at the beach -easy. Turn on the fans and cool down - easy. Kitchen - well laid out and loved the pantry shelf -easy. There were even ice blocks ready in freezer for picnics. Washer dryer downstairs - huge - easy. Add up all the thoughtful details - easy. Our impression and experience comparing both visits . . . . . Wakiki - expensive noisy took effort from $$$$$ parking blocks from our unit and walks through dense crowds for expensive meals Punnuluu - economical quiet ( except for the pesky noise of ocean waves and palm trees blowing under our window) and effortless - food trucks literally up the road, Foodland up the road - Activities up the road, for yucks and giggle we went to Polynesian Cultural Center - skipped the buffet but saw the show - ate at food trucks instead, perfect evening. Went to Climbworks, best zip lining tours and guides. Waimea Valley for a guidedmoonlight walk through the gardens to the waterfall, just magical. And the unit itself - comfortable, funky and fun - other reviews talked about upgrades? Why? I’d rather have economical clean and well maintained than fancy. We felt safe - no guard house or gates necessary. Our first night some local lads were fishing with their uncle who came to help them, they were quiet and respectful. Witness to Spirit of Ohana. Beautiful. Thank you Henrietta for providing us working folks an affordable space to call “home” on Oahu. Your instructions were so detailed and easy to follow. We’ll be back. Aloha.
