    About this property

Beachfront Corner Unit With Panoramic Views!

NOTE: Due to recent changes in the laws relating to short term rentals on Oahu, as of Aug. 1st, 2019 this unit is only available for 30 day stays or longer. The rate to rent the unit for 30 days is $2,700. At that rate you are paying what it would cost to stay in a local hotel for about 10 days! The Short Version: A studio that has been converted to provide a more private 1 bedroom, 1 full bathroom, Full Kitchen, 1 Queen Sized bed in bedroom, 2 day beds in front room. Ridiculously amazing views from this 6th floor corner unit of both the ocean and the mountains. There is no better place to recharge your biological battery than the Windward side of the island of Oahu – that’s the opposite side of the island from Honolulu. The pace on the windward side is slower, you might call it Hawaiian Country Living. You don’t need to send your son or daughter down to the beach to stake your claim to a 4 foot by 4 foot section of sand. You won’t find yourself discovering that your hotel room has a view of the hotel across the street. No vendors are going to hand you fliers for one of thousands of tourist traps. You won’t find shoulder to shoulder crowds virtually everywhere you try to go. On the windward side, you leave all that behind. Over on this side of the island, you are going to find the kind of Hawaiian Experience that most people dream of. Soothing trade winds, the occasional tropical rain fall, clean and crowd free beaches all accompanied by the tune of the surf. After all, you are going to a tropical island. Why stay in what is basically the same city you left, just plopped down on the leeward side of Oahu? You want that tropical experience – and that is what this unit delivers! The Beach : If you are going to visit a tropical island, you want the beach, right? Well, you got it. This property is located right on the water. All that there is between you and dipping your toes in the pacific is about 50 feet of lawn and sand and a 6 story ride in an elevator! We could have cut the time down by installing a zip line from your lanai to the beach, but the homeowners association would not allow it. Party poopers. Protected Coastline : A mile or so offshore is a reef. This makes the beach nice and calm – perfect for swimming, snorkeling or just enjoying the warm tropical waters – particularly for younger children who might not be ready to take on the typical Hawaiian surf. You can swim out and observe the sea life that swims just feet from the beach. Heck, for long way out you can walk! The View : What about when it’s time to relax a little? Maybe you spent your first day enjoying a little too much sun and you need to get some relief for that nasty sun burn. That should not mean you cannot enjoy the reason you came to this tropical paradise – right? From this corner unit on the 6th floor – you have the widest and most sweeping view possible of not only the beach as it stretches off to the horizon to the north and the south, you also get a great view of those majestic Hawaiian mountain ranges. All from the comfort of your lanai (that’s what they call a balcony in Hawaii). So take a seat and continue to enjoy the view – right from the condo – all 270 degrees of it! The Surf : Okay, so maybe you are not the kind of vacationer who likes to hang out in the room – or even stay in any one place too long. If you are the more active type, or an experienced surfer, you can enjoy all that Hawaiis North Shore has to offer. Yes, we are talking about THAT North Shore. You know, the one that has been immortalized and celebrated in movies, Beach Boys songs and professional surfing events for decades! You are just about 30 minutes away from the best the North Shore has to offer! Not an experienced surfer? No worries, there are some great locals who teach surfing classes near the North Shore – I can totally hook you up! Accommodates 4 : Let’s take a second to talk about what “Accommodate” means. For me, that means being able to eat, sleep and relax in comfort. You are not going to find any futons or couches that unfold into a “bed”. There is one queen and two twin sized day beds. The two twin beds also serve as couches during the day, but in this case they are beds serving as couches, not couches serving as beds. Nothing finishes off a great day at Hanauma Bay or the Polynesian Cultural Center better than a good nights sleep – so I make sure you have comfortable beds to come home to. The Layout : The condo was originally set up as a studio, but has been modified so that there is a bedroom area that is separated from the living room by the kitchen. It’s an open floor plan to allow for air flow, so there is no door separating the bedroom area. There is one bathroom. For your comfort, there are also two ceiling fans installed to help keep things cool. Kitchen : The kitchen has everything you need to prepare your daily meals. There are two supermarkets near by where you can stock up on whatever you would like for your stay. It includes an electric cook top, oven, sink with garbage disposal, coffee maker, microwave oven, toaster, blender and all the cookware, glasses, plates and bowls you are likely to need. There is no dishwasher, so those you will need to wash by hand. There is also a dining table that accommodates 4 easily. The kitchen is a utilitarian affair – but it gets the job done! Television and DVD player : A television with basic local cable is provided, including a DVD player for you to play any movies you may have brought along. If you have children, you know how handy this will be during your down time. I recently upgraded the TV, so now you an also use your Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, YouTube... and tons of others - account to enjoy in the unit. Just remember to log out before you leave! Some gear for the fun! : I try to keep a decent selection of useful items for your visits to the beach. This includes fins, snorkels, masks, sand chairs, buckets and shovels for sand castles – maybe even a boogie board or two. For any other gear you might want to acquire, there are stores nearby where you will be able to find what you need. UPDATE: After about a year now, I am finding that more items go missing than I expected. So I cannot guarantee the availability of any of the gear. I restock whenever I visit, but I cannot guarantee how long the items remain available. Destinations to choose from! : Oahu has a great deal to offer. You can visit the Polynesian Cultural Center located just a few minutes up the road to the north. Turn toward the south and you can visit Kualoa Ranch for horse back riding, zip lining, ATV riding, nature tours and tons more – they also made Jurassic Park and other movies on their 4000 acre property. If you really want to sample the crowded and more tourist focused side of the island, Waikiki is just about an hours drive away. There really are tons of options. Washer/Dryer : A washer and dryer are included so that you can visit with a minimum of luggage! When I am visiting, I usually just bring a single carry on with only 2 or 3 days worth of what I need. Being able to do the laundry while you are there just makes traveling that much easier! Secured Building : The building where this condo is located provides key pass access only. So if you want to use the elevators or access the stair wells, you have to have the security dongle to do so. This gives an added level of security and provides some peace of mind. What This Unit Is Not: The photos and description make it clear what this unit is, but I want to make sure you know what it is not. You are not going to find granite counter tops or cabinets made from the rarest teak woods and the finest flooring. Everything works, but the unit is utilitarian. If what makes a vacation amazing for you is the finest of updated furniture and cabinets, you will want to select another unit. I started offering this as a vacation rental in July of 2015 and I have met some great folks over that time who have appreciated this unique getaway as much as I have! Since that first rental, I have taken feedback from guests and updated the flooring by removing the carpeting and installing tile. I would love to do some kitchen upgrades next, but that will take some time since I am continuing to try and keep that rental rate reasonable. I want to thank those of you who have chosen to vacation at my place - particularly those that have done it more than once over the relatively short time it has been available! In Feb of 2019, after feedback from my guests, I upgraded the TV so folks could "Netflix and chill". So please do provide feedback, I listen and do what I can.

    4/5 Good

The unit was just right for our family.

The convenience of the booking process was excellent (immediate confirmation) and Paul (condo caretaker) was punctual and helpful. The condo had all the snorkel and water gear that all of us needed... including the beach and beautiful weather.

    Great views

Great views. Could use a little bit of touch-up on some rusting metal. ( Note it is right on the ocean with saltwater spray so things do need to be looked after ). Also the road noise did bother my wife. I was ok with it but I was sleeping on the day bed by the porch with the slider open and heard the surf all night.☺ The North shore is much quieter and slow paced than Waikiki. We enjoyed it.

    5/5 Excellent

    Very comfortable

We really enjoyed our stay at Pat’s! Our room was older but very clean and comfortable. We don’t spend much time in a room while on vacation but we really enjoyed spending time on the balcony and watching the waves! Perfect for us!

    4/5 Good

    Cute & cozy

Cute & cozy. It would have been nicer if there wasn't construction going on during the day which made it hard to come in for lunch because we would have to close the doors to hear each other and then it would get too warm since there's no AC only fans. There was also a funky smell from a septic tank issue. The whole time we were there was a septic truck was parked outside. Thankfully when we got into our place you couldnt smell it just when you would come and go.

Beautiful view from the unit but....

The unit is a corner unit with a beautiful view of the ocean. But we expected the unit cleaner than it was, we cleaned the floors, dishes, table ,silverware, counters.. After cleaning we felt better but it took a lot of work- not what you expect when going on vacation. The televison is the size of a computer monitor, and the internet and cable went out several times during the week and all night before we left. The unit manager did get it going as we were leaving. It has 3 large sliding doors with nice views but 2 of the screens were gone. As we were leaving, a contractor was present to get new screens installed. This is a lower priced unit that could be a gem if it was fixed up but at this time I would suggest getting a different unit. The property has some very nice units and this must be one of the worse. We have visited Hawaii many times before and this is by far the worse room we stayed in. After cleaning up the unit and paying for cleaning upfront, we find a note that we are expected to do the some laundry before checking out so it will take less time for the cleaning staff. They have done some upgrading and the bathroom is pretty good. The entire floor has been replaced with tile but it was not very well installed. The grout was left on a lot of the tiles and there are broken and missing ones around the washing machine which makes it look bad. The microwave didn't work because the outlets around the sink were tripped on the ground fault and would't reset. I moved it to the other counter and plugged it into a power strip near the stove. Microwave- toaster and coffee maker (4-5 cup size) in a power strip.. We unplugged and used each as needed. The manager stated he already had the outlets fixed once. The best things are the beach and the views- the swimming is great and nice sand beach with snorkeling within 30 feet of the beach.
