Hotels in Gros Islet
Located in northern Saint Lucia, Gros Islet is the newest town in this small Caribbean country. People who visit will find it to be a quaint, quiet town where they can unwind and relax. Gros Islet is home to Beausejour Cricket Stadium that hosted the Cricket World Cup in 2007. In addition, Gros Islet comes to life every December when the Atlantic Ralley for Cruisers finishes at the Rodney Bay Marina.
While there is a small beach located in town, most people who go for the sand and surf venture out a bit. Pigeon Point Beach, Gros Islet Beach, Anse Lavoutte, Cas en Bas and Reduit Beach are all within walking distance of Gros Islet, and each offer their own unique charms. The surrounding area is also home to a number of large resorts including Glencastle Resort, Almond Smugglers Cove and Almond Morgan Bay.
Hints and tips
While the population is rather small, you can find most things that you need at the Rodney Bay Mall that features an array of shops and a supermarket. It is located a short walk away from the marina. On Friday evenings, the local streets are closed to motor vehicles to make way for the Jump-up, a festive street party where vendors sell local food and bars remain open well into the night.
