    About this property

    Private Recreational Treehouse Cabin on Lake! 2 Decks & 2 Kayaks! Family/pet : )

Lakefront cabin with kitchen and balcony
Enjoy lake views from this fully furnished, rustic, two-story, lakefront A-frame cabin. Built on a rocky hill overlooking Vallecito Reservoir, this home is a half-tree house, half cabin, and total happiness. The cabin is located in a friendly neighborhood with its own private access to the lake's shoreline. It is comfortable in size with over a 1,000 square feet for your families enjoyment. Both bedrooms are upstairs on the second floor with a half bathroom between the rooms. This is an older cabin and one characteristic we want to share is the staircase to the second-floor staircase is 24” inches wide. The master bedroom has its own private deck for stargazing every evening : ) The main floor has all accommodations of a full cabin. Equipped with a full bathroom, kitchen with a five burner stove and is stocked with coffee, condiments, and basic cooking supplies for your relaxing time away, a dining area with large windows seats up to six which can be a perfect area for a few of our stocked board games, and a comfy living area great for reading and is also decorated with a flat screen 32" tv and a cd player. We have a few classic movies to enjoy, or you can bring some of your families favorites. The place is intentionally cable and Wifi free, so you can put down your devices and enjoy what's around you. Instead of listening to ringtones and email alerts, come listen to the water and the wind in the trees and spend nights at the campfire on the property. Walk down the deer trail (can be steep at points) and enjoy stunning views of Vallecito Reservoir and enjoy drinks by a toasty fire pit. A perfect mountain and lake escape. For those of us that love lakes and ponderosa pines combined, this cabin is a perfect place to relax and take in the mountain air. There are two complimentary kayaks along with life jackets and oars for your lakefront cabin experience. If you choose to participate, you do so at your own risk. All pets must be approved in advance and a separate $40 charge will be applied if approved. The cabin has forced air heating in all rooms, both bedrooms have small fans and a 16" Oscillating Pedestal Stand Fan is on the first floor. To ensure all guests have the best experience, upon your arrival, I will try to meet with you to personally provide information on the cabin, the neighborhood, and any related information you may want to know about the area to ensure your time here a success. One week before your stay, I will reach out to you and let you know where the keys are and helpful tips on parking and finding the cabin in case you arrive before me. I also live in the area and am available 24/7 with any questions or concerns you may have during your stay. Enjoy lake views from this fully furnished, rustic, two-story, lakefront A-frame cabin. Older home did not feel quaint or historic, just old.

Total lack of ambiance in second bedroom. Three bare walls, bare light bulb, no chair, no place to put your suitcase except the floor. Most renovations were done very cheaply and poorly. We did enjoy the property, kayaks, and lake view. The other bedroom, living area, and kitchen were OK.

        Beautiful view!

We had a wonderful stay in our cabin! The area was very quiet, a delicious diner close, beautiful drive around the lake area, ... very relaxing! We did have cell service at the cabin. (AT&T and Verizon) Enjoyed roasting marshmallows on the hillside one evening even if the weather was rather warm for September. The cabin is small but was perfect for my cousin and I. Several items were provided for convenience and Rene was on the spot even though we arrived after dark. Drove to Durango and the surrounding areas every day for more beautiful scenery. Great stay!

          Quaint tree house cabin

We stayed at this rustic A frame cabin with our two dogs for 4 nights 5 days. My 1st impression was how beautiful the view was and the feeling you were in a treehouse. I loved it! The cabin is great and Renee's welcome was fantastic. The deck is super and the location is sweet. We loved the amenities -- little extras that really made a difference - from condiments and olive oil to cook to bathroom toiletry items to games and fishing supplies. The gift of a nice bottle of wine was superb as well. We enjoyed margaritas at PuraVida down the street a couple of times. A couple things we'll point out are that the stairs to the bedrooms is a really steep tunnel-like staircase with tiny narrow steps that our dogs were super afraid to go up and come down. We have large scaredy cats! It's just over two feet wide & like a closed in tunnel, so keep that in mind. Also getting to the lake to romp around for the dogs was an ordeal. You cannot go down the hill and there it is like it looks in the pic. There's a 6-8 ft cliff with a ladder that dogs cannot go down to get to the lake, so you must find the main trail and take the long way. Not a big deal but a bit cumbersome with all our gear/dogs. The lake shore is rocky and sandy - so be prepared for mud. A few suggestions to owner to add which helps for longer stays: one more fry pan, large kitchen towels, better scrubby sponge (or nonstick pans), small narrow table in bathroom to set toiletries on, full length mirror in one bedroom, ext. cord so you can blow dry hair in mirror, large table or cubby underneath main shelf in main room and by main bath for storage and non-white towels. None of this is criticism only suggestions as we did just fine without these things. All in all, this is a favorite for us and we definitely recommend this cabin.

          5/5 Excellent

An older cabin fixed up nicely to be homey. We felt welcomed and at home. Near many things to do!

If you are looking for a traditional lakeside cabin in the mountains, this is it. The manager, Renee was very nice and helpful. We had a great time even though the entire national forest was closed for the first time ever. Even without hikes and the train ride, we found lots to do and had a great time. Fishing was a few steps away. Just know that it is a rather steep climb down and very much so back up to the cabin. It's much steeper than it looks in the pics but we were fine with that. Those with very young children or physical limitations may not do as well with it. The two bedrooms are upstairs and while not what I would call spacious were bigger than I expected for an A Frame cabin. There is also a bathroom and storage/closet area upstairs as well as another outside deck with great views. The stairs are extremely steep and very narrow and the stair tread is not very wide so you need to be careful where you put your feet. But again, it worked fine for us. The couch does make out into a bed downstairs, also, if you have someone who cannot manage the stairs. Downstairs is open and roomy with livingroom and dining area all in one. Great window for the view and an outdoor deck. I would have loved the seating to be close to the windows and the dining table on the other side but we still enjoyed it! The kitchen is a galley kitchen and has just the basics but we still easily managed to cook some great meals. The stove is brand new and awesome! Unless you are feeding more than 6 or so, you will be fine. There is no a/c but we truly didn't need it even with record high temps for the area. The windows and the breeze worked great! Parking was a bit tricky but seems to be the norm for this type of rental. Don't bring a trailer or boat without making arrangements. If you have a crew cab truck like us, be ready for some careful parking but it was doable and realistically we deal with that all the time. We saw a ton of wildlife all around--numerous birds, fish, squirrels, chipmunks, even an eagle or two. We saw lots of signs of other animals but didn't see them. With the fires to the north, we never had any smoke but did have the helicopter come around 7:30 one morning to fill up from the lake. We never found out if they were taking water to the fire or just practicing but it was interesting to watch. The local people are very friendly and helpful. It was very quiet even though other cabins are next door on all sides. Great place!

              Rustic Relaxation

I needed a few days to unplug and that's exactly what I got... four days with no WiFi or cable. We had a great time! Rene is wonderful and so very welcoming! The lake is stunning! The path to the lake is steep but relatively easy to navigate. The deck is perfect for relaxing with a book and a glass of wine!
