About this property

Central Pennsylvania Shoff-read Century Farmhouse Vacation Rental

Our farmhouse was built circa 1885 and the farm has been owned and maintained by the family for over 140 years. Five generations of our family have lived on the farm, and we are now making the farmhouse available for those needing a quiet, country retreat or vacation rental for an entire family looking for a place to stay while attending a wedding, family reunion or other special occasion in the area. The house is also ideal for those visiting the Clearfield area for recreational purposes. The quiet and peaceful setting would also be attractive for those who write. The home sits on nearly 200 acres consisting of farmed fields, grazing pasture for cattle, and forested areas bordering the property. This century farmhouse has been lovingly renovated, modernized, and furnished with mixed period antiques and current day style, yet keeping with the character of a farmhouse built in the 19th century. Our farmhouse has 12 rooms with 2 stories for your use, consisting of 4 bedrooms upstairs (one queen, three full size beds) and one downstairs bedroom with a twin bed & a sleeper sofa with the ability to sleep up to 10 people in the home. There are 3 full size bathrooms (2 upstairs and 1 downstairs) with all towels and linens supplied. It has a modern kitchen equipped with all appliances and cookware. This is a lovely vacation home for those wanting a quiet, comfortable home to enjoy for relaxation or for an entire family looking for a place to have extended time together. Our home is non-smoking. Smoking is permitted outside or on the porch but not anywhere in the home.

        Perfect Location

This home was perfect for a relaxing vacation in a secluded setting. Can't wait to visit again. Susan gave us all the information we needed before our arrival and responded quickly to any questions we had. Could not have asked for a better place to stay.

          Wonderful Getaway!

We met family at the farm house for a long weekend together and couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming, clean, comfortable place to stay. The house is beautiful and full of wonderful history. We spent hours on the porch enjoying the serenity. We will definitely go again!

Peace Quiet & Everything You Will Need

The Shoff Read Home is, just that, a home. It is full of charm, and is overflowing with peace, just waiting to be enjoyed. We had the privilege of seeing a winter sunset up on the hill the night before we left. The peace and beauty that rests on the farm is from the Heavens, no doubt about it! The quiet is only occasionally interrupted by a passerby or a horse drawn buggy of the local Amish families. The sound of hooves on the pavement and the roll of the carriage wheels only add to the experience of truly being away from it all. The farmhouse has EVERYTHING you will need. I was able to bake and make full meals for 8 with what Susan has provided in the multitude of cupboards and drawers, there's even a crockpot!!! We are a family of 8 with two toddlers, and Susan had pack n plays and bed rails for the babies. The beds were so very comfortable and each of the five bedrooms were spacious and clean. Plenty of towels, linens, and even sleds for this Florida family who are accustomed to cardboard sledding, so even a smidge of snow was enough to warrant several trips down the hills. The only thing I would change is that the farmhouse would be closer, but that would ruin everything. Even still it is worth the 16 hour drive with 6 six children in tow, and it is a time we will cherish for many years to come.
