    Best night's rest ever!

I've been at this great house 3 times in the past 5 years and it's still our most favorite place to stay. It really is a GRAND historic farmhouse that takes you back in time - almost 200 years. The ambiance is incredibly relaxing. It's peaceful, very clean and very spacious. The rooms are decorated with antiques, and each bedroom is spacious and has it's own special charm. The beds were extremely comfortable - we all slept great waking up refreshed! Kitchen has all modern appliances and everything you could possibly need. Can easily accommodate a large group. Very easy to get around in the house if you have mobility health issues. Plenty of parking space. We just enjoyed sitting on the front screened in porch, taking in all the beauty and serenity offered. Great outdoor spaces, beautiful countryside, minutes from Springfiled Antique & Flea Market. Yellow Springs is also close, a quaint little town, with many dining options and specialty gift shops. Dirk is phenominal - quick responses to emails and very very accommodating to our needs. Thank you for a most memorable stay - again!.

    a piece of history revered

What a special home for those who want to imagine what commitment it took to run a successful farm in the mid 1800's and to transition it thru the industrial era into modern farming. The home has an unmistakable regard for history. It has been updated tastefully with special care to include comfortable modern conveniences while respecting the very old furnishings and original design elements. You can see the horizon from all directions as the land is broad and flat making sunrises and sunsets especially spectacular. Lastly, how often will you ever experience the sound of a train whistle rolling across the land and a train running thru your front yard approximately 300 feet from the front door, it's plain FUN!

Perfect setting for a not so perfect weekend.

The Farmhouse was exactly what we needed. Parts of 5 families were able to come together and celebrate the passing away of their sister with comfort and warmth. With the memorial taking place in Cedarville, the home was located very conveniently. Each family had their own room for privacy when needed and plenty of living space to just hang out with everyone together. Huge meals were prepared in the kitchen with ease and the dining room was a blessing to be together as one big family. Although our purpose for renting wasn’t desired, the need for the farmhouse was greater then expected. It provided a place for joy, for weeping, and for healing. Thank you for the use of your beautiful home. It provided everything we needed and more. We have already determined to reserve the home in the next couple years (if still available) for my nephew’s wedding as it is perfect for bringing families together. We highly recommend the Historic Grand Farmhouse of South Charleston!!!!

    Good place for our group.

Relaxing place. Met our groups needs

Plenty of room for a fun family reunion weekend

This farmhouse has beautiful historic touches and the upgrades you want with lots of room for our nine adults to spend time together and have their own space. Seeing the sun rising over a cornfield and watching it set as the cattle grazed in the pasture just outside your window was amazing. From a game night on the screened front porch to s'mores and stories around the fire pit out back, we found great ways to connect as a family in this home. A few tips - the home uses well water but there is a water softener with its own faucet at the kitchen sink for water for drinking and cooking. The laundry room is upstairs and located through a door in the bedroom with the treadmill. And you really do "climb" into the king bed in the master suite. It has a very high frame and the top of the mattress is about three feet from the floor, which could be challenging for someone who's shorter or not so nimble.
