The location was great - just a minute off the interstate and plenty to eat close by. Check in was awkward - the desk clerk wanted to charge my card again even though I booked and paid through Expedia. Our room was a king as promised and in nice shape except the shower. When I opened the shower door and turned on the water the smell of bleach was overwhelming. It wasn't the water, it was what had been used to clean the shower - made me concerned about why such strong chemicals had to be used. While standing in the shower, the fiberglass floor squeaked and groaned with every slight movement. We had a first floor room and I only weigh 120 pounds, so it wasn't a stability issue. Our TV was stuck on one channel and couldn't be changed even though the remote could change the volume. I called the front desk and the clerk said she would try to get us moved .... the lobby was completely deserted and the parking lot about 1/3 full. She said she would call me back. After about 10 minutes my husband figured out that the wiring had been changed and fixed the channel problem. I called the desk to let the clerk know she could stop working on "trying to get our room changed." Pool was permanently closed. This was my first stay at a Holiday Inn Express - not sure I will try another one.
