    About this property

    Catlett Gap Historic Homestead

Lakefront cabin with kitchen and patio
The Catlett Gap Homestead is nestled in a valley approximately half way between Winchester and Berkley Springs. Pet friendly, and with a shooting range; The cabin pre-dates the civil war and was a homestead deeded to the Catletts; some of whom still live in the area. At one point the cabin is mentioned in records of confederate troop movements, and apparently Stonewall Jackson himself spent a night inside the cabin during a snow storm. But there are certain creature comforts such as a smart TV, Wi-Fi, HVAC, fireplace, BBQ pit, fire pit, satellite radio, bathroom, fully stocked modern kitchen. Outside burning is only permitted in those two areas and only when risk of forest fire is low. It has 2 bedrooms and a couch, and can sleep up to 9 with 2 guests on an air mattress. Other in-door amenities include a very large stone fire place, a small library of the local wildlife, and other classic novels, as well as a DVD player and a DVD library of nearly 300 movies. There is also a covered front porch with rocking chairs. And there are 4 ponds near the house, two of which are stocked with catfish. Catch and release fishing is permitted. No license required. There is also a cabinet full of board games. Because of the local area, there are lots of fun activities to do year round. For example, in the summer, fishing is great and there are many places near by. In the winter, Whitetail ski resort is only 50 minutes away, and staying at the cabin and driving there is much cheaper than staying at the resort. Cacapon State Park is only 5 miles away and has hiking trails as well as horse back riding, fishing and swimming. Berkley Springs has spas and antique malls as well as good restaurants. Winchester has a zoo that specializes in exotic animals. There is a Food Lion as well as a gourmet butcher shop in Berkley Springs, and there is a new super Walmart in Winchester, depending on which way you go. Please note, renters must be at least 21 years of age to book this property.
Air-conditioned accommodations at this cabin offer fireplaces and DVD players. Rooms open to patios. Televisions come with video-game consoles.
Kitchens offer refrigerators, stovetops, microwaves, and separate dining areas. Additionally, rooms include coffee/tea makers and hair dryers.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or nearby; fees may apply.

    5/5 Excellent

      Rustic historical cabin

This was a great place for the four of us to relax. We loved feeding the fish. They were so colorful! We're country folk, so this was a great fit for us. Know before you go: only one of the bedrooms is private and it has 3 beds. The other bedroom is an open area at the top of the stairs that you have to walk through to get to the other bedroom.

      4/5 Good

        A nice Rustic Cabin

The front part is a restored cabin with an attached kitchen and bathroom. The bathroom is tiny but adequate. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern appliances. We used the cabin as sleeping quarters as we were attending the N-SSA spring Nationals. We enjoyed feeding the fish in the three ponds. The cabin is air conditioned which was great since the days were very hot. My wife described the first floor of the old cabin as a man cave. There are many mounted deer heads. The cabin is equipped with dish TV so if you are not familiar with that, you should go on line to get instructions.

        5/5 Excellent

The cabin was very nice, property around the cabin was open, the snow was great.

We enjoyed the cabin, very comfortable, all the amenities you could ask for. The weather, the 10 inches of snow made it all the more enjoyable, plenty of fire wood for both the fire pit out side and the fire place, plenty of charcoal for the grill. We had a great time and may come back. The only down side was 522 it was kinda noise but did quite down at night.

          5/5 Excellent

            Charming, rustic cabin!

Overall satisfied! Cabin was just what we were looking for. Secluded enough but convenient to all that we needed. Anthony was great to work with throughout!

            5/5 Excellent

              Nice property.

Had a great time. Anthony is very communicative.
