A good hotel in a less than attractive town

Excellent for an overnight stay when travelling. Area not particularly attractive as a town, somewhat down at heel, but Stokesay Castle (English Heritage) well worth a visit also Discovery Centre (free). Had evening meal at Stokesay Inn which was fine. Not many alternatives dining options in the town.

We had a very enjoyable weekend and have booked a further 2 days next month. We enjoyed a full breakfast with a good choice of starters..We also had an evening meal .We have stayed here many times and have always had a very warm welcome. It is also convenient for people who enjoy country walks and the countryside.

    Too short a stay

I arrived quite late after a long day so just showered and went to bed. I slept well but in the morning I found the lack of a suface to work on and limited wi-fi signal meant that I had to leave without being able to give the place a full review. The staff were friendly enough and the bedroom and downstairs were well maintained and pleasant throughout, so I would stay here again without hesitation because it is in beautiful countryside.

Good location, easy to get anywhere in town or go for a walk being next to the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre with its excellent bookshop. The only negative is the noise generated by the A road, especially lorries late at night. Great breakfast.
