I have spent a lot of time wondering how to best review this property. First let me start off by saying that I booked for a week-long stay for the XMas holiday and there were two adults and one toddler. When we arrived there was a strong scent of cleaning products in the air, but the place was very dirty, and there was hair everywhere. Hair was in clumps attached almost to every object of furniture in the place. The rug was so dirty and dusty that we couldn't even walk on. The floors hadn't been mopped in what seems like months. The table on the rug has three legs and is attached to an extremely heavy marble base (40-50lbs). I believe it is homemade. With the slightest amount of weight on it, it tips over, which is a huge safety hazard for young kids.
The management company sent someone to clean, but the place was so filthy that it really didn't help. We ended up rolling up the rug, sliding the heavy tilting table to the side, and trying to stay gone as much as possible. It was pretty miserable. The place needs a deep cleaning. I wouldn't recommend the place to anyone who is concerned about cleanliness or anyone traveling with a young person.
Another drawback is that the second bedroom gets light from the living room because the wall separating the two rooms has a glass partition at the top. So even watching tv at night or keeping a small lamp on meant that light would flood into the room. The other room has sheer curtains so there is no way to block out street light or early sunlight. If your kids require a dark room to sleep, there won't be much sleep during this trip.
There is a parking space in the garage, but you need two people to access it as the unit does not come with a garage opener. One person enters the building from the street while the other person drives the car around to wait for person one to open the garage. Leaving is much easier though.
This unit is for a group of young friends that want a cool place close to Depaul's campus. Anyone else would probably be annoyed.
